FG Slashes Public Transport Fare By 50%

On Wednesday, the Federal Government announced a significant reduction in public transport fares for Nigerians, with a 50% discount, as revealed by the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, during a press conference in Abuja. The announcement was part of a presidential intervention in public transportation to mark the Yuletide season.

Minister Alake disclosed that the special discounted fares on road transport and zero fares on rail services would be in effect from Thursday, December 21, until January 4, 2024. This initiative aimed to ease the financial burden on citizens during their travels for the holiday season.

Starting Thursday, individuals desiring to travel could avail themselves of the 50% discounted fare on luxury buses, while train services on applicable routes would be provided at zero cost. Notably, air travel was excluded from the initiative, with the minister emphasizing its focus on benefiting the masses.

The minister conveyed that President Bola Tinubu had approved this gesture to demonstrate his love for Nigerians. The initiative aimed to enable citizens to travel to visit loved ones and hometowns without the usual financial strain associated with high transport costs during the festive period.

Minister Alake highlighted the commitment to ensuring a safe holiday season and mentioned that President Tinubu had directed security agencies, including the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the military, to collaborate and prevent security breaches across the country.

In his closing remarks, Minister Alake extended holiday wishes to all Nigerians and urged everyone to abide by the law, stay vigilant about security, and demonstrate goodwill to family, friends, and neighbours. He emphasized the importance of moderation while celebrating and enjoying the various social activities during the season.

I Saw Shooting, I Saw Poisoning And Some Spiritual Activities Against Him – Man Of God Calls For Prayers For Rema

An unidentified man of God has said that he predicted a number of troubling occurrences surrounding the Nigerian artist Rema, including shootings, poisonings, and spiritual battles.

The man was captured in a video that has now gone viral speaking about the musician, initially referencing one of his songs while trying to remember his name.

He asserts that the musician in question is the target of evil powers who want to bring him down, underscoring the importance of taking specific steps.

In his words,

“Let us pray for that man; what is his name? He said, ‘See body, Ooo.’ Let’s pray for that young boy; he’s a young boy, not a young man.”

Let’s pray for him. I don’t know his name; I can’t remember it, but if I do, I’ll inform you. Let’s pray for that young man.”

Somebody said they call him Rema; let’s pray for him because, where I saw his head, his hand cannot pull his head out. So, let’s pray because the devil is going to devise strategies that seem gangster-like.”

I saw shooting, I saw poisoning, and I witnessed some spiritual activities being directed against that guy.”

Pope Francis Gives Priests Greenlight To Bless Same-Sex Couples

In a historic move within the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis has given his approval for priests to confer blessings upon same-sex couples.

This groundbreaking departure from traditional norms was formalized in a document issued by the Vatican on Monday, marking a significant stride for the LGBT community within the Church.

The head of the Roman Catholic Church clarified that such blessings should be granted only under specific circumstances and not be integrated into regular Church rituals or associated with civil unions or weddings. Despite this shift, the Vatican reiterated its unwavering position, affirming marriage as an exclusive union between a man and a woman.

The approved document conveys that this adjustment reflects an understanding that God welcomes all. However, it underscores the discretion of individual priests, emphasizing that decisions should be made on a case-by-case basis. Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, the Church's prefect, introduced the document, highlighting its commitment to the Church's traditional doctrine regarding marriage. He stressed that this modification aligns with Pope Francis's pastoral vision of expanding the Catholic Church's appeal, allowing priests to bless relationships still categorized as sinful.

It is essential to note that the document emphasizes that those receiving blessings should not be required to have prior moral perfection. In Catholic tradition, a blessing is a prayer or entreaty, typically delivered by a minister seeking divine favour for those blessed.

Cardinal Fernández clarified that the revised stance does not confer validation upon the status of same-sex couples within the Catholic Church. While the declaration suggests a more lenient tone, it does not signify an official change in the Church's position. Notably, in 2021, Pope Francis asserted that priests could not bless same-sex marriages, emphasizing that God cannot bless sin.

Pope Francis had hinted at his openness to the idea of the Church blessing same-sex couples in October. Before this official declaration, certain bishops in certain countries had already permitted priests to bestow blessings upon same-sex couples, creating ambiguity regarding the Church's overarching stance on the matter.
