Naira Marley In Police Custody For Mohbad’s Controversial Death Investigation

In a recent update, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the detainment of the well-known artist Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, in connection with the contentious passing of his former record label signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, stated, "Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and further investigative procedures."

Naira Marley, addressing the situation via a tweet on Tuesday night, revealed his return to Lagos to cooperate with the ongoing inquiry into Mohbad's demise. He expressed, "I'd like to share that I've just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria, to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. I must do my part for Imole. I'll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail."

Mohbad, tragically passing away at 27 on September 12, has prompted the police to request Naira Marley and controversial music promoter Balongun Eletu, aka Sam Larry (currently in police custody), for questioning.

The police also confirmed last week that pathologists have completed the autopsy, with results pending. This development follows the exhumation of Mohbad by a combined team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials.

Additionally, reports indicate that the nurse who administered the injection to the deceased singer before his passing on September 12 has been apprehended by the police.

A coroner's inquest into Mohbad's untimely demise commenced at the Lagos State Magistrate's Court in Ikorodu last Friday, seeking to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
