6 Benefits Of Walking You Didn’t Know About

It's easier to overlook the little things that may have a major influence on our general well-being in today's fast-paced society.

You may start living a physically active lifestyle by joining a gym, but one of the obstacles you may have is finding the time to attend. Without receiving 50% of the rewards, your membership may expire.

Walking is a simple yet underutilized type of exercise. A significant body of research has shown that walking has comparable health advantages to high-intensity exercise.

Here are six advantages of purposeful walking:

1. Walking may help decrease blood pressure, lessen the risk of heart disease, and generally enhance cardiovascular health. It's a fantastic method to develop strength, improve flexibility, and keep your weight in check.

2. Better mental health: Walking may enhance general cognitive performance, lower stress levels, and lift moods. It's a fantastic method to get your ideas in order, concentrate, and acquire fresh insight.

3. More energy: Walking may help you feel less tired, sleep better, and have more vitality. It's a fantastic way to get your day going and keep your energy levels up all day.

4. Greater general well-being: Walking may increase general well-being by lowering inflammation, enhancing immunity, and promoting a balanced gut flora.

5. Reduce joint pain: Everyone should walk, but those with arthritis may find walking to be especially beneficial. It keeps the joints supple, strengthens the bones, and lowers the risk of osteoporosis.

6. Reduces the efficiency of genes that promote weight gain: A Harvard study found that a vigorous daily walk of one hour may cut the risk of hereditary or genetic obesity by 50%. The same study also discovered that prolonged sitting may increase these genes by 50%.

“While the South-South caucus/zone in conjunction with the Delta State branch of NMA is working hard to unravel the circumstances behind this unwarranted murder of a dutiful medical doctor, the zone strongly condemns this dastardly act and in the interim, resolves as follows:

“That the relevant security agencies step up their efforts to arrest the perpetrators of this heinous crime within five days, after which the South- South caucus may not be able to guarantee the rendering of normal medical services in the entire South-South zone.

“That members of all NMA state branches in the South-South zone should henceforth put on black arm bands throughout this week to mourn our colleague.”

Dementia, Seventh Leading Cause Of Death Globally — WHO

According to the World Health Organization, dementia is the seventh greatest cause of mortality worldwide.

According to the organization, dementia research represents for less than 1.5% of total health research output.

Dementia is a condition characterized by loss in cognitive function that exceeds the normal effects of biological aging.

According to the WHO, there are presently over 55 million individuals living with dementia globally, with approximately 10 million new cases diagnosed each year.

WHO stated in a news release made available to our correspondent that initiatives were required to better identify, prevent, and cure the underlying disorders that cause dementia while also providing care and support to persons with dementia and their carriers.

WHO chief scientist, Dr Soumya Swaminathan, said, “Although dementia is the 7th leading cause of death globally, dementia research accounts for less than 1.5 per cent of total health research output.

“Sadly, we are falling behind implementing the Global Action Plan on the public health response to dementia (2017-2025). Addressing dementia comprehensively requires research and innovation to be an integral part of the response.

“Moreover, dementia research needs to be conducted within an enabling environment, where collaborations are fostered and equitable and sustained investment is realised.

“With these objectives, WHO developed a blueprint for dementia research; the first WHO initiative of its kind for non-communicable diseases. The blueprint is designed to guide policymakers, funders, and the research community on dementia research, making it more efficient, equitable, and impactful.”
