Afrobeat Superstar Burna Boy And Wizkid Wins Grammy Award

Nigeria Afrobeat musicians, BURNA BOY, and WIZKID, have won their first Grammy Awards.

BURNA BOY, whose real name is DAMINI OGULU, won the best global music album category after beating four other nominees at the 63rd Grammys.

The musician won the category with his Twice As Tall album released in August 2020.

The album featured guest appearances from NAUGHTY BY NATURE, the Kenyan band, SAUTI SOL, Senegal's musical titan, YOUSSOU N'DOUR, and CHRIS MARTIN of Coldplay.

The Grammys described Twice As Tall as a master class in the vibe and hustle that have made Burna Boy an international musical force.

While WIZKID won for his collaboration with BEYONCÉ and BLUE IVY on the song "Brown Skin Girl", Burna Boy who is dubbed 'Odogwu' won for his fifth studio album.

The music executive was buried according to Muslim rites.

Nigerian record label boss Kashy Godson has been laid to rest days after his mysterious death.

The C.E.O. of Cash Nation Entertainment was alleged to have committed suicide even though his family thinks otherwise.

The music executive was buried according to Muslim rites on Friday, March 12, 2021, in Ghana.

In attendance were close family and friends.

Kash Godson died on Sunday, March 7, after allegedly committing suicide.

While some said he jumped from his house balcony after battling depression for a long time, others alleged he was pushed off the building by someone he had a business transaction with.

Another source say the record label boss was involved in a brawl with his signee, Barry Jhay just before the ugly incident occurred.

Pulse later exclusively gathered that, Barry Jhay had been arrested over his connection to the record label boss' death.

Nigerian Idol Season 6 To Premiere This Sunday

Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, Africa Magic’s Channel Director, has said that over 3,600 young Nigerians auditioned to be on the show this season.

The sixth season of popular singing competition show, Nigerian Idol, will premiere on Sunday, March 14th from 6pm on DStv Channel 198 and GOtv Channel 29.

The much-anticipated show will open with a special airing of the most entertaining moments from the auditions which took place late last year. DStv and GOtv customers will get the chance to play judge during this pre-show by rating their performances on Africa Magic and find out if their favourites made it to the Judges’ list when the main show starts March 28th .

The Nigerian Idol platform provides a launch pad for young, talented Nigerians to achieve their dreams in music on the local and global stage. According to Africa Magic’s Channel Director, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, over 3,600 young Nigerians auditioned to be on the show this season.

Nigerian Idol season 6 will be hosted by the much-loved media personality, IK Osakioduwa, with superstar singer Seyi Shay, creative entrepreneur, Obi Asika and celebrity DJ, Sose as the Judges. The eventual winner of this season’s show will walk away with a recording contract with a leading record label and 50 million Naira worth of prizes.

Nigerian Idol season 6 will air on DStv channel 198 & GOtv channel 29 starting March 14. Viewers can watch Nigerian Idol Season 6 via the DStv app on multiple devices at no additional cost. The app is available for download on iOS and Android devices.
