Remembering Michael Jackson: 18th March 1958 – 25th June 2009

Michael Jackson was known as the King of Pop, and with four decades worth of smash-hit pop music, he made an incredibly positive impact on the world of music.

Between 1979 and 1991, Jackson released hit after hit on each album, from Off the Wall to Dangerous, and was nothing short of a worldwide musical sensation. With record-defying success and an untouchable music career, the singer was practically invincible.

He may have been untouchable for a time, but Jackson’s favorable public reputation began to dwindle once the first sexual abuse allegation was made against him in 1993, and his personal life and career began to derail.

To this day, fans and followers remain divided on their opinions of the singer and the allegations against him, and Jackson’s lifelong legacy continues to be at stake — most notably with HBO’s recent and highly controversial four-hour documentary,  leaving Neverland, which aimed to expose the allegations against the singer.

Ahead of his unexpected death and after a multi-year hiatus, Jackson was gearing up for a massive global comeback: the This is It residency, which was scheduled for 50 dates between 2009 and 2010 at London’s O2 Arena.

He made the iconic announcement on March 9, 2009 at a televised press conference in front of more than 3,000 fans, with hundreds of thousands more watching across the planet.

The This is It residency was revealed to be his final series of concert dates, and while they unfortunately never took place, Jackson’s announcement proved that he was missed by many.

Here are some more of Jackson’s most iconic moments throughout his career.

BbNaija Reunion: Kiddwaya Was A ‘Community Boy’ — Wathoni

As the BBNaija reunion show keeps getting hotter, the name-calling gets more intense. In the episode that aired yesterday, Wathoni described her former housemate, Kiddwaya, as a ‘community boy’.

In the local parlance, the term community boy is often used to describe a highly flirtatious man.

Wathoni further stated that she never had feelings for Kiddwaya and she would always choose Prince over him.

The TV reality star said, “I will not say that I had feelings for Kiddwaya. To be honest, if there was an opportunity or a decision to be made for me to choose between Kidd or Prince, I will choose Prince. It will have always been Prince because I like dark guys.

“Kidd was a community boy. At a point, he was trying to be a playboy; he was trying to play the bad guy. Today he is with Nengi, the next day he is with another person. He said a lot to me.”

While replying to the name-calling, Kiddwaya simply stated that he could not be bothered about how she perceives him.

He said, “Yes, I was flirty and I told her to come to my bed; that is the character in me. I flirt with a lot of people. But inviting her to my bed did not mean anything; it simply meant she should come and we can talk.

“The way she describes me is her opinion of me. I do not mind what she says. I couldn’t care if she liked me. Either she liked me or not would not have mattered because things would have still been the same.”
