On Friday, December 31, 2021, Nigerian singer, Fireboy DML debuted in the top 30 of the Official UK Top 40 Charts with a remix of his smash hit single, 'Peru' featuring Ed Sheeran.

The record became Nigeria's first song to record one million views on its video from Nigeria on YouTube.
 
The record has now debuted at No. 52 on the US Rhythmic Radio charts. This comes after a whirlwind six months for fireboywho has already released two albums in his career; Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps and Apollo.

Sophie says nobody is going to drag her in 2022.

The mother of one made this known via her Instagram Live page on Monday, January 3, 2022, while reacting to reports that she got into a fight with Davido's second baby mama, Amanda in a nightclub.

According to Sophie, she has spent the last six years battling with online bullies who have never seen anything good about her.

She said she will continue to for herself because when her daughter grows up, she will question her silence over the constant bashing.

Sophie said all she has tried to do is to raise her daughter well and have a cordial relationship with her sister.

She also wondered why people on social media always drag her when she tries to support Davido.

Sophie concluded that in 2022 nobody will spread false rumours about her.

It’s celebration galore in Nollywood as two actors, Odunlade Adekola and Femi Adebayo, marked their birthdays on Friday.

Announcing his birthday, Adebayo shared a picture of himself on Instagram with the caption, “All praises and adoration to God Almighty for another year. Birthdays for me are days to appreciate your creator! Olorun o ba mo dupe o (I’m grateful to God). Please thank the Almighty on my behalf.”

While announcing his special day, Odunlade revealed that he has clocked 45 years.

Sharing a picture of himself, the actor wrote, “Glory be to God. Your small boy is +1. Your Saamualajo is 45th. Glory be to God and a very big thanks to every one of you!

“I really appreciate your support and love. The glory of God will not depart from us in Jesus’ name. Happy New Year in advance to you!”

Nollywood stars have taken to their individual Instagram pages to celebrate the actors on their birthdays.

Celebrating Adebayo, actress Mercy Aigbe said, “Happy birthday to my Honourable, my friend, a fantastic filmmaker, an amazing actor @femiadebayosalami keep winning.”

Sharing a picture of herself and Odunlade, the actress also wrote the same message but addressed it to Odunlade.

Actress Iyabo Ojo also celebrated Odunlade saying, “Happy Birthday padi mi, friendship mi @odunomoadekola wishing you many more years in great health and wealth. stay winning.”

Hailing Adebayp, the mother-of-two wrote, “Happy Birthday ore mi, padi mi wishing you many more great years ahead @femiadebayosalami more wins, more success” (sic)

Other Nollywood stars that congratulated the celebrants include Toyin Abraham, Funke Akindele, Adedimeji Lateef, and many others.

Nigerian singer, Inetimi Timaya, popularly known as Timaya, on Friday, stated that it was impossible for him to get broke again.

The singer shared a picture of himself on Instagram with the caption, “Some things ain’t possible again. Like getting broke. Never!” (sic)

The Plantain Boy crooner had recently recounted his rise to wealth when he shared his grass to grace story with the audience at the Coca-Cola Urban Music Festival.

He had said, “I used to sell plantain but now I am rich. I suffered so much as a boy but I am now a rich man. Thanks to God. If you’re here and you think you are suffering, do not give up. Keep pushing because you will surely succeed.”

The singer, who hails from Odi in Bayelsa State, is the founder of DM Records. His solo career began in 2005 with the release of the song, ‘Dem Mama’, which also appeared on his debut album, ‘True Story’ released the following year.

His works have earned him several notable awards including Headies, AFRIMMA, One Nigeria Music Award, and NEA Award.
