Wizkid Named Artist Of The Year By Apple Music

On November 29, 2021, Apple Music announced winners from its annual Apple Music Award. Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Wizkid was named Artist of The Year (Africa), while The Weekend was named Artist of The Year globally.

Other winners at the awards are Aya Nakamura, who was Artist of The Year in France, and H.E.R, who was named Songwriter of The Year.

Wizkid’s excerpt reads, “Singer-songwriter Wizkid is one of Africa’s biggest crossover acts, having worked with Drake, Skepta, and Chris Brown, among others. The Nigerian musician first found regional success in 2011 with the massively popular single “Holla at Your Boy,” which appeared on his debut album, “Superstar.” Wizkid went global in 2016 after his collaboration with Drake on “One Dance,” which soared to the top of the charts in 15 countries.

“Between 2019 and 2020, Wizkid was featured in Beyoncé’s projects “The Lion King: The Gift” and its companion piece, “Black Is King.” In October 2020, he released “Made in Lagos,” his critically acclaimed and most commercially successful album, which included his hit song “Essence,” a track that gained 125 million plays on Apple Music and over 2.8 million Shazams.

This past year, he’s been the most streamed African artist on the continent on Apple Music and ranked on the Daily Top 100 charts in 60 countries, in addition to his monthly plays on Apple Music growing by more than 250 percent outside of Africa.

He’s also been featured on Apple Music’s Today’s Hits and R&B Now playlists, and he’s a frequent guest on Apple Music Radio shows, including “Africa Now Radio,” “The Ebro Show,” “New Music Daily with Zane Lowe,” and “OVO SOUND RADIO.”

“Thank you to Apple Music for this award,” Wizkid speaks about winning the award. “It’s a blessing to get to do what I do, and I’m proud to be representing for Africa.”

Reality TV star Tacha has narrated the horrible experiences she faced at the hands of the drivers she employed for her company.

In a series of posts shared via her Instagram Stories on Monday, November 29, 2021, Tacha narrated how the first driver got into trouble with the law while driving and the strenuous process it took for her to recover her seized vehicle.

“The former drive took one way on lekki epe way and lasma impounded my van. I know the struggle I went through to recover my van,” she wrote.

She went on to recount how the second driver who was barely two months in the job connived with the security staff at the estate where she resides to steal fuel belonging to the estate.

She went on to appeal to Nigerians to tread with caution when employing support staff. She asked for people to double check so as to avoid issues.

‘It Is Lame And Disrespectful To Call People Out On Social Media’ – Basketmouth

The comedian gives his two cent about the idea of calling people out on social media.

Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth, has given reasons why it is disrespectful and lame to call people out on social media.

According to the comedian in a post shared via his Instagram page on Sunday, November 28, 2021, it is totally unnecessary to call anyone out on social media especially if you have phone numbers.

"There are two ways to call people. 1. A phone call and 2. Social media call out. The latter is lame and disrespectful. Especially when you have their phone number," he wrote.

The comedian gives his two cent about the idea of calling out people on social media.

The comedian's post may not sound strange to many as social media calling out has been reinvented as the new means of settling scores.

Basketmouth is a Nigerian comedian, actor and rapper.

Nollywood Veteran Clem Ohameze Receives N8M For Spinal Surgery

The movie star sustained injuries after a car accident a few years ago.

Nollywood veteran Clem Ohameze has received the sum of eight million naira for surgery.

The movie star was gifted with the huge amount of money by a popular pastor, Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin.

While narrating his ordeal, the movie veteran said his health challenges started after he had a car accident some time ago.

He disclosed that after the accident, he had visited the hospital where an x-ray was conducted on him to ascertain the extent of injury sustained.

According to him, the result of the x-ray showed that his “cervical vertebrae 3 had collapsed on the 4th, thereby causing pressure on my spinal cord and the retardment of the lower limb”.

The 'Last Burial' star said he was treated for a while and he got better. He, however, said he noticed that he started having difficulty walking later.

Ohameze is a Nigerian actor with a career spanning over two decades.
