Banky W Slams Lagos State Government Over Plans To Reopen Lekki Toll Gate

The music star says the government has disregarded the pains young Nigerians went through at that toll gate.

Nigerian music star Bankole Wellington popularly known as Banky W has slammed the Lagos State government over its plans to reopen the Lekki toll gate.

The singer made this known via his Twitter page on Thursday, March 17, 2022.

"The intended resumption of collections at the Lekki toll gate is yet another example of a serious lack of empathy by the Lagos State Govt. Life in Nigeria has been extremely difficult. All things being considered, the timing of this decision is just unfair," he tweeted.

According to the 'Lagos Party' singer, the state government has disregarded the pains young Nigerians felt during the killings that took place at the popular toll gate.

"Lagos State is exhibiting a blatant disregard - not just for the pain felt by all the young people who were hurt by the events of #EndSARS, but also the pain and difficulty being experienced by the majority of Lagosians just trying to survive in these difficult times," he added.

Banky's tweets are coming on the heels of the proposed opening of the toll gate.

According to the state commissioner for information, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) will open the toll gate for business on Friday, April 1, 2022, for business.

However, commuters will have access to the toll gate for free for two weeks.

The Lekki toll gate was one of the grounds used for the #EndSars protests across the country in 2020.

Hushpuppi Caught In $400k Fraud Case While In US Prison

The documents showed fresh evidence indicting HushPuppi of committing fraud and money laundering in U.S Federal correctional facility.

A Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent in the United States (US) has alleged that Instagram celebrity, Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi, received fresh charges as the United States prosecutors submitted court documents showing that he committed fraud and laundered over $400,000 while in jail.

According to documents submitted before the United States District Court of California on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, HushPuppi committed fraud and money laundering while in a US federal correctional facility.

The documents revealed that Hushpuppi, while in prison, participated in the purchase and laundering of Economic Impact Payment debit cards fraudulently obtained from stolen data of US citizens and residents.

Economic Impact Payments are a key provision of the US Coronavirus Aid Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act legislation that Congress passed to help reduce the financial burden of COVID-19 on individuals and their families. One of the ways eligible US residents receive their Economic Impact Payments is by debit cards.

From the documents presented in court, it was found that hackers use data of US residents to file and obtain Economic Impact Payments debit cards. They sell off these EIP cards in underground marketplaces to other cybercriminals.

According to the agent, Hushpuppi was actively buying EIP debit cards from an underground cybercriminal marketplace called StimulusCard (“https://stimuluscard.com/”). While being recorded, Hushpuppi bought a total of 58 EIP debit cards with a total value of $429,800 on the site and laundered the money through one AJ.

Reacting, the US authorities, according to reports, said prisoners have limited access to the telephone, video, internet and computer use because of their right to privacy in a court filing.

The authority stated that like the rest of the detainees, Hushpuppi was granted access to the computer network.

March 17, 2022 Kanye West Suspended From Instagram

Kanye West Suspended From Instagram

Page Six has confirmed that Kanye West has been suspended from Instagram for 24 hours after going after Kim Kardashian, Pete Davidson and Trevor Noah on the social media platform.

A spokesperson from Meta mentioned that the recent posts from the rapper violates the company’s policies on hate speech, harassment and bullying. He will be unable to post, comment or send DMs for 24 hours.

The spokesperson also mentioned that if West, 44, continues to violate the policies, the company will take additional steps.

After repeatedly taking aim at ex-wife Kardashian, 41, and her boyfriend, Davidson, 28, over the last several weeks, West most recently lobbed a racial slur at Noah, 38, on Wednesday.

“All in together now… K–n baya my lord k–n baya K–n baya my lord K–n baya Oooo’ lord K–n baya,” West captioned a screenshot from a Google search result describing Noah as a “South African comedian.”

West was mocking Noah by using the offensive “k–n” slur to replace the original lyrics in “Kumbaya.”

West’s offensive posts toward Noah came in response to the comedian discussing his dynamic with Kardashian and Davidson on “The Daily Show.”

“What [Kardashian is] going through is terrifying to watch, and it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave,” Noah said on his Comedy Central series.

Noah compared West’s situation with Kardashian to his own experience witnessing abuse as a child. He mentioned people thought his mother, Patricia, was “overreacting” before his stepfather shot her in the head. (Patricia survived the attempted murder.)

“As a society, we have to ask ourselves questions. Do we wish to stand by and watch a car crash when we thought we saw it coming?” Noah asked on the show.
