South African Media Star Kefilwe Mabote Burns Luxury Designer Clothes After Embracing Faith

South African media personality Kefilwe Mabote has opened up about her decision to burn her expensive designer clothes after dedicating her life to Christ. The move sparked widespread debate after she shared a video of the act on social media, with many questioning why she destroyed the clothes instead of donating them to those in need.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Mabote explained that her decision was rooted in her faith. She cited biblical teachings, emphasizing that such items are considered “accursed” and should not be passed on to others.

"I’ve been getting questions about why I chose to burn Versace items instead of giving them away, and I want to take a moment to explain with care and understanding,” she wrote. “The decision to burn the items came from a place of conviction. According to the Bible, such things are considered ‘accursed’ (see Joshua 7:13 for context). For example, the image of Medusa represents a Greek god from the marine kingdom, and as believers, we cannot serve two masters.”

Mabote expressed that giving the clothes away would go against her conscience, as she believes they carry significant spiritual implications. “I can’t, in good conscience, transfer things that I know carry deep spiritual implications,” she added.

Her bold action has drawn both criticism and praise, with some applauding her unwavering commitment to her faith and others questioning the practicality of her choice.
