Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has instructed the Commissioner for Education to organize psychological counseling and therapy sessions for Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi.
This directive comes after Mmesoma admitted to forging her JAMB score, claiming to have obtained the highest score in the country.
In a letter addressed to the Principal of Anglican Girls Secondary School Nnewi, Governor Soludo emphasized the need for immediate intervention and support for Mmesoma.
The letter, signed by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, is in line with the recommendations of the Committee set up by the Anambra State Government to investigate the matter.
The panel's report, made available to journalists, revealed that Mmesoma confessed to manipulating her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result without any assistance.
She admitted to falsifying the result using her Airtel phone number. Despite her initial claims and the subsequent controversy, Mmesoma acknowledged the accuracy of the narration by JAMB officials.
As part of the recommendations, Mmesoma has been asked to issue written apologies to JAMB, her school (Anglican Girls' Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi), and the Anambra State Government.
Additionally, she will undergo psychological counseling and therapy to address the underlying issues that led to her actions.
The state government's decision to provide Mmesoma with professional support reflects its commitment to addressing the situation responsibly and ensuring the student's well-being.
