Google Mistakenly Paid Man Over $200,000 Without Deal

Google paid a guy about $250,000 without any specific work for the firm by accident.

On Tuesday, a guy known as Sam Curry, a staff member of the cryptocurrency firm Yuga Labs, characterized the payment as perplexing on his verified Twitter handle, @samwyco.

"It's been a little more than 3 weeks since Google unexpectedly paid me $249,999 and I still haven't heard anything on the support request," Curry tweeted.

“Is there any way we could get in touch @Google?”

“It’s OK if you don’t want it back,” he added.

Meanwhile, Google said it is working to get the money back.

“Our team recently made a payment to the wrong party as the result of human error,” wrote a Google spokesperson in an email to CNN.

“We appreciate that it was quickly communicated to us by the impacted partner, and we are working to correct it.”

Pengassan Threatens 30-Day Shutdown, Nigeria Risks N1.37tn Loss

Protesting members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) yesterday threatened to shut down oil production in Nigeria for 30 days if the Federal Government fails to curb the lingering massive oil theft in the Niger Delta.

The union, which staged a nationwide street rally in Abuja, Kaduna, Lagos, Warri, to protest the impact of crude oil theft, decried high level ‘collusion and connivance’ involved in the crime, which has left Nigeria broke and borrowing heavily to finance its appropriations at a time that oil prices have remained consistently high in the international market.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, PENGASSAN President, Festus Osifo, charged the government to hold those whose responsibility is to protect oil pipelines to account.

Also speaking at the sensitisation rally that was held at the Delta State Governor’s Office Annexe in Warri, the PENGASSAN Zonal Chairman, Prince Audu Osihiokhamele, noted with concern that “the big men doing the business of crude oil theft are in government.”

He said Nigeria is losing over 600,000 barrels of crude oil or over 25.8 billion naira daily to theft and pipeline vandalism and this is costing the nation dearly.

Osihiokhamele added that the OPEC quota for Nigeria today is above 1.8 million barrels of crude oil per day but we struggle to produce just over a million because majority of this crude oil are stolen.

Should the workers implement their threat of 30 days shut down of oil installation, Nigeria might lose about 1.37 trillion naira from the non-production and sale of crude oil, a major foreign exchange revenue earner for the country.

Lekki Deep Seaport To Create 112,000 Jobs – Minister

The Lekki Deep-Sea Port project, according to Alhaji Muazu Sambo, Minister of Transportation, will result in the creation of 112,000 jobs for Nigerians.

Speaking to reporters in Jalingo on Sunday, Sambo made the remark.
He claimed that the port, which was Nigeria's second largest port after Onne Deep-Sea Port, had the ability to increase the nation's earnings.

The project would have a favorable effect on the country's economy, the minister added.

“The Lekki deep-sea port project, which is the second after Onne Deep Sea Port in Nigeria is very significant, because the largest ships in the world can berth at the Port.

“That means, more tonnage, more cargo, more revenue for the port and for the country, more economic activities.

”And above all, more jobs, like I said, over 112, 000 both direct and indirect jobs will be created as a result of the creation of the Lekki deep-sea port.

“This will be in the first few years and as time goes on and as activities expand, the number of the jobs will even multiply and that is what is good for us.

“For as more jobs we have, the more our ability to put food on the table of many Nigerians," Sambo said.

Sambo said that his redeployment from the federal ministry of Works and Housing to Transportation would not affect the ongoing execution of road projects in the state.

According to him, the ongoing road projects in the state will be completed to the latter.

Sambo assured that he would explore the option of ‘Corporate Social Responsibilities’ from agencies in the Federal Ministry of Transportation, which would positively impact on the lives of the people in the state.

“I have being given assurance from the ministry of Works and Housing that as soon as funds are released from the federal ministry of Finance, contractors will receive their outstanding payments and will be able to continue with their work.

“My movement to the ministry of Transportation does not mean that the impact of infrastructure in Taraba as far as road is concerned will end.

”Even in the federal ministry of transportation, we have agencies that have corporate social responsibilities to execute projects.

“Such corporate social responsibilities will include all those activities that will touch the lives of the common man including township roads.

“And I intend to explore that option to be able to bring more succour to the people of Taraba State,” the minister added.

Sambo advised political party supporters in the state to imbibe the spirit of peace and brotherliness during and after the political parties’ campaigns.

”No contest in this life that is worth dying for except the contest for the face of God.

“We should approach this election with calmness, peace and brotherliness, because there is no contest in this life that is worth dying for except the contest for the face of God.

“Any other contest is a matter that ends here. Everybody wants to win election ostensibly to better the lives of his people, so whomsoever wins should be embraced.

”There is no contest worth shading the blood of a brother and a sister or even harbouring hatred, just because you support one candidate and I support another,” he urged.

Elon Musk Sends Social Media Into Frenzy With Joke On Twitter About Buying Man Utd

It was unexpected news that briefly sparked a frenzy on social media and in the football community.

Was the richest guy in the world planning to purchase Manchester United?

Elon Musk, who Forbes estimates to have a net worth of $270 billion (£223 billion), tweeted just after 1:00 BST on Wednesday, "Also, I'm purchasing Manchester United yer welcome."

The American's post received more than 400,000 likes, causing social media chaos.

For United, the beginning of the new season has been tough.

After two losses, they are in last place in the Premier League, star player Cristiano Ronaldo may leave, and new signings aren't working out.

After a "humiliatingly awful" start to the season, its fans are restless, and earlier this week the Manchester United Supporters Trust stated it will "demand answers" from those in charge of the team.
