November 7, 2019 CAF appoints Senegalese ref for Eagles, Benin clash

The Confederation of African Football has picked Senegalese official, Issa Sy, as the referee for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Nigeria and Benin Republic in Uyo.

This was contained in a statement by the Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday.

The statement added that Sy would be assisted by compatriots Nouha Bangoura (assistant referee one), El Hadji Abdoul Aziz Gueye (assistant referee two) and Fatou Thioune (fourth official) at the encounter scheduled for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, from 5pm on November 13.

The Super Eagles will then fly to Maseru for the Day Two clash with the Crocodiles of Lesotho, billed for the artificial turf of the Maseru-Setsoto Stadium as from 5pm on November 17.

Meanwhile, Benin coach Michel Dussuyer has named his squad for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

Among the top players in the suad are Turkey-based captain Stephan Sessegnon, and AF Bobigny defender Melvyn Doremus. Clermont defender Cédric Hountondji and Valenciennes midfielder Sessi d’Almeida also make a return after they missed out on the October International window.

The Squirrels will travel to Uyo to face Nigeria on November 13, before hosting Sierra Leone four days later in Cotonou.
