Unknown gunmen kidnapped Ekpe Ogbu, the Benue State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, along with Honourable Agbo Ode, one of his in-laws, and the driver on Sunday night, December 4, around 8.45 p.m.

According to reports, they were kidnapped near David Marks Farm, after Akpa Otobi, on their way from Otukpo to Utonkon in Benue state's Ado Local Government Area.

The commissioner was said to have attended a Church service where Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District, dedicated his newly inaugurated Campaign Council to God at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Otukpo, and was on his way to his village in NDEKMA, Utonkon District of Ado LGA after the service when gunmen ambushed them and whisked them away.

His official vehicle has since been recovered by the state police and deposited at the Divisional Police office in Otukpo.

Efforts are currently underway to rescue the victims unharmed.
