Bandits have killed a lecturer from the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State. Dr. Tiri Gyan David, Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development, was attacked and killed early Tuesday morning.
According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred around 1:30 am at Dr. David’s residence in Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area. The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community, firing sporadically to intimidate residents. They also abducted two of the lecturer’s children.
The spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident and stated that a detailed statement would be released soon. Dutsinma is one of the ten frontline local government areas in Katsina State experiencing frequent bandit attacks despite ongoing efforts by the state government and security agencies to restore peace.
