During an early Sunday morning raid, bandits burned to death Reverend Father Isaac Achi of Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kafin Koro Community, Paikoro Local Government Area, Niger State.
The robbers were claimed to have stormed the neighborhood and started firing intermittently on their way to the Reverend Father's hilltop dwelling.
The robbers, according to a member of the hamlet who identified himself as Paul, split into two groups. While some proceeded to the Catholic priest's official house, others remained in town, shooting to keep any type of disturbance at bay.
He said that when the robbers couldn't locate the priest, they set fire to his home, trapping him inside.
In another vein, the Ekiti State Security Network, also known as Amotekun, has initiated a search for the kidnappers of Rev. Father Michael Olofinlade, Priest in Charge of St. George Catholic Church, Omu-Ekiti Parish.
Father Olofinlade was kidnapped on Saturday evening between Itaji and Ijelu Ekiti on his way back from Ado-Ekiti, the state capital of Ekiti.
