Andy Robertson Will Undergo Shoulder Surgery, According to Jurgen Klopp, As Liverpool Suffer A Huge Injury Setback

Andy Robertson will have shoulder surgery, and Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the defender will be away for “a while.”

The injury occurred while the left-back was on international duty with Scotland, when Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon landed awkwardly on top of him. Robertson dislocated his right shoulder and fell to the ground.

Liverpool inspected the 29-year-old this week and debated not operating on him, but it has now been determined that surgery is the best course of action.

According to reports, Robertson might be out for up to three months, ruling him out of crucial Premier League matches against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Manchester United before the end of the year.

Kostas Tsimikas is expected to take his position in the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday, but Klopp hinted at other alternatives for replacing Robertson in the coming weeks.

Pep Guardiola Claims Erling Haaland And Lionel Messi Are Front-Runners To Win The Ballon d’or

Pep Guardiola feels Erling Haaland deserved to win the Ballon d’Or this year, but believes his main opponent Lionel Messi should have a stranglehold on the title.

Haaland and seven-time champion Messi are the favorites to win the tournament in Paris later this month.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was clearly split between his 52-goal striker from last season’s record Treble and the finest player he has ever managed.

‘I always said that the Ballon d’Or had to be two sections: one for Messi and one for the others,’ Guardiola said. ‘Haaland should win, yes, after scoring 50 million goals.

‘But of course Messi, if you tell me the worst season of Messi it is the best for the rest of them. Both deserve it.

City, who have lost their past two Premier League games, face ‘one of the toughest’ tests of the season on Saturday against Brighton.

Guardiola admires Roberto De Zerbi and is concerned about the threat they will offer at the Etihad Stadium.

No January Exit For Ndidi, Iheanacho

As the transfer window approaches in January, Leicester City's Coach, Enzo Maresca, has quashed any speculations about the potential exit of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho.

With just one year remaining on their current contracts, both players were subject to transfer rumours during the recent summer window.

Wilfred Ndidi was strongly linked with moves to Nottingham Forest and Fenerbahce, while Kelechi Iheanacho reportedly received offers from Crystal Palace, West Ham, and Inter Milan. Nevertheless, Maresca deems Ndidi indispensable and a vital part of his squad, especially as he endeavours to guide the 2016 English Premier League champions back to the top flight following their relegation last season.

When questioned about the future of Ndidi and Iheanacho, Maresca responded, "These players' futures will be resolved in no time. They are key players, and we will see what happens in January, but I don't see them leaving except for international duty."

Despite Ndidi's role shift to the No.8 position at the club, his recent outstanding form has solidified his place in Maresca's plans, making their departure from the team highly unlikely.

Our Target Is The AFCON Title – NFF Technical Director

The Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Austin Eguavoen, has clarified that their target in the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations is the trophy.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria last won the competition in 2013 in South Africa under late coach Stephen Keshi, and since then, the country has been struggling to win back the title.

They failed to qualify in 2015 and 2017 before winning bronze in 2019 under the former coach Gernot Rohr, and 2021 was a story to forget as they crashed out in the round of 16.

Eguavoen said they've been craving to regain the title, which will not be different this time.

"We have been craving to get the Nations Cup back since 2013. We’ve not been able to achieve that feat because we know we have the capacity and the quality and everything to win it.

But to say it is easy to achieve is another thing, so everybody has to work towards the same goal, support the team whichever way we can support the coaches, and the players have to go out there and do the job", he said.

Nigeria will commence their campaign in the tournament with the opening group game against Equatorial Guinea before facing Ivory Coast and Guinea Bissau later in the competition.
