Andy Robertson will have shoulder surgery, and Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the defender will be away for “a while.”
The injury occurred while the left-back was on international duty with Scotland, when Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simon landed awkwardly on top of him. Robertson dislocated his right shoulder and fell to the ground.
Liverpool inspected the 29-year-old this week and debated not operating on him, but it has now been determined that surgery is the best course of action.
According to reports, Robertson might be out for up to three months, ruling him out of crucial Premier League matches against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Manchester United before the end of the year.
Kostas Tsimikas is expected to take his position in the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday, but Klopp hinted at other alternatives for replacing Robertson in the coming weeks.
