Sweden Drops Mbappe Rape Investigation Due to Insufficient Evidence

A Swedish prosecutor announced on Thursday the closure of an investigation into allegations of rape and sexual assault involving French football star Kylian Mbappe. The case was dropped due to insufficient evidence.

In a statement, prosecutor Marina Chirakova explained, “My assessment is that the evidence is not sufficient to proceed, and the investigation is therefore closed.” While the statement did not explicitly name Mbappe, it clarified that he had “not been notified of suspicion of a crime.”

LaLiga: Mourinho Suggests 3 Potential Replacements for Ancelotti at Real Madrid

Fenerbahce manager José Mourinho has suggested three potential candidates Real Madrid could consider as successors to Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti has faced increasing scrutiny following a series of underwhelming performances in both the La Liga and the Champions League. Mourinho, who managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, also hinted at the possibility of returning to the club himself.

Speaking about the situation, Mourinho expressed his admiration for Ancelotti and Real Madrid, saying, “I’ll always be a big fan of Real Madrid. They have the best coach in the world, my friend Carlo [Ancelotti]. He’s doing very well.”

When discussing potential options for the club's future leadership, Mourinho highlighted a range of choices available to President Florentino Perez. “The future depends on what the president wants,” Mourinho said. “If he prefers a young coach with great potential like Xabi [Alonso], or someone in the same experienced mold as Carlo, or even from within the youth system, like [Raul] or [Alvaro] Arbeloa. It’s all up to the direction they wish to take.”

Lookman Expresses Displeasure Over Boniface’s African POTY Snub

Ademola Lookman has expressed disappointment over the omission of his compatriot Victor Boniface from the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year nominees.

Boniface enjoyed a stellar season with Bayer Leverkusen, playing a key role in the club’s successful campaign that saw them clinch both the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal titles. The 23-year-old forward netted an impressive 21 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions for Die Werkself.

Despite his achievements, Boniface was left out of the nominees’ list, a decision that surprised many. Reflecting on this, Lookman said, “Obviously, Boniface, my teammate, had an amazing season last year. With his personal achievements, goals, and winning two titles with Leverkusen, it was special. They were unbeaten in their league.”

He added, “Maybe he could have been nominated for sure, but you know, I am not the one who makes the rules.”
