Man City Extend Winning Run To 21 Games With Comfortable Victory Over Wolves

Man City Extend Winning Run To 21 Games With Comfortable Victory Over Wolves.

Manchester City have extended their winning run to 21 games in all competitions by comfortably easing past Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Their 4-1 victory courtesy of three goals inside the final 10 minutes means City have not dropped points in the league since drawing with West Bromwich Albion on 15 December and are now 15 points clear at the top of the table.

During that time they have played 21 games in all competitions, reached the final of the League Cup, the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and taken control of their last-16 Champions League tie against Borussia Monchengladbach.

An unlikely second-half equaliser from Conor Coady - cancelling out Leander Dendoncker's first-half own goal - had threatened to thwart City's pursuit of a 15th consecutive Premier League win.

The league leaders face second-placed Manchester United on Sunday with the chance to move another step closer to the title.

Ronaldo Marks 600th Appearance With 20th Seria A Goal This Season.

Cristiano Ronaldo marked his 600th league appearance with his 20th Serie A goal of the season as Juventus comfortably secured a 3-0 win over Spezia.

All three goals came in the second half, with Ronaldo getting his side's third when he finished off a quick counter-attack in the final minute.

Alvaro Morata had slotted in Federico Bernardeschi's cross for the opener before Federico Chiesa tapped in.

Victory moved Juventus to within three points of second-placed AC Milan.

Ronaldo's goal means he has become the first player to score at least 20 goals in each of the past 12 seasons in Europe's top five leagues.

Plans For Reinstatement Of Russia Approved By World Athletics

Russia is closer to having its suspension from World Athletics for doping offences lifted after the sport's international governing body approved plans for reform.

The 31-page plan is described as a "last chance and urgent attempt" for change after Russia's 2015 suspension.

A number of deadlines for reform have been set for the coming year, including targets for wider drug testing.

World Athletics president Lord Coe called it a "roadmap to rebuild trust".

"This is not the end but the beginning of a long journey, with an incredible amount of work for Rusaf (the Russian Athletics Federation) to do to rebuild trust," said Coe.

No date has been set for Russia's readmittance to World Athletics, but a detailed timeline relating to the sport's governance, funding, anti-doping regime and education of athletes has been set out and is to be monitored.

Among the changes demanded are for policies to be introduced to encourage whistleblowing, measures to "punish those regions resisting change", and to increase athlete input into how the sport is run in the country.

The report says that Rusaf believes it can achieve its targets but also notes that "irreversibly changing a culture will in fact take a generation".

World Athletics also says it will consider whether Russian athletes proven to be clean can take part in the Tokyo Olympics this year, when its council meets on 17 and 18 March.

Early Richarlison Strike Earns Everton Win Over Southampton

Richarlison's early strike was enough to guide Everton to only their sixth home win of the season as Southampton's alarming slump continued with a 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park.

Everton took the lead inside the opening 10 minutes as Richarlison continued his rich recent vein of form in front of goal with his third goal in three games.

Southampton left it late to muster any kind of response but could have snatched a point had Moussa Djenepo not blazed wide, or had Jannik Vestergaard managed to bundle the Saints' first attempt on target past Jordan Pickford in the final minute.

But Everton held on to secure back-to-back league wins for the first time since Boxing Day as Carlo Ancelotti's side ended a three-game home losing streak to move level on points with Liverpool and to within two points of the top four.

For Ralph Hasenhuttl and Southampton, their table-topping early-season form is a distant memory after succumbing to an eighth Premier League defeat in nine which leaves them 14th, seven clear of the relegation zone and looking over their shoulders.
