Germany Coach, Joachim Low To Leave Role After Euros

Joachim Low will step down from his role as Germany manager after this summer's European Championships.

The 61-year-old has been in charge of his country's national team since replacing Jurgen Klinsmann in 2006.

He had a contract until the 2022 World Cup but approached the German Football Association (DFB) to end it early.

"I take this step very consciously, full of pride and enormous gratitude," said Low, who led his country to victory at the 2014 World Cup.

He added that "at the same time" he continues "to be very motivated when it comes to the upcoming European Championship tournament".

"I am proud because it is an honour for me to be involved and because I have been able to work with the best footballers in the country and support them in their development," said Low.

Liverpool Manager, Klopp Rules Out Replacing Germany Job

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he is not "available" to succeed Joachim Low as manager of his native Germany.

The German Football Association has announced that low will leave the role  after this summer's European Championships.

"Am I available for the job after the summer? No," said Klopp.

"Someone else will do the job and, with the number of good German managers, I am sure the German FA will find a good solution."

Klopp, 53, was appointed Liverpool manager in October 2015 and has led the club to victory in the Champions League in 2019 and to the 2019-20 Premier League title.

Klopp was speaking before the second leg of Liverpool's last-16 Champions League tie against RB Leipzig on Wednesday (kick-off 20:00 GMT).

The Reds hold a 2-0 advantage for the home leg, which will be played at Puskas Arena in Budapest because of Covid-19 restrictions.

Boxer Josh Taylor Relishes The Chance To Someday Face Idol, Pacquaio

Josh Taylor's ultimate dream would be to take on his idol Manny Pacquaio, who he fondly calls a "gentleman" and "ferocious".

Taylor is on the verge of history - he will face fellow undefeated world champion Jose Ramirez on May 22 for the undisputed super-lightweight title.

Victory would even mean Taylor pips Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury to undisputed glory, if their heavyweight mega-fight can be finalized, but the 'Tartan Tornado' has bigger goals to accomplish too.

Pacquiao, 42, is a legendary eight-division world champion currently regarded as the WBA welterweight 'champion in recess'.

IBF and WBA champion Taylor must first edge WBC and WBO titleholder Ramirez in one of the whole sport's most anticipated fights.

They are both champions in their prime from opposite sides of the Atlantic with a combined record of 43 unbeaten fights.

They have also both already defeated other previously-unbeaten champions in unification fights - Taylor beat Regis Prograis and Ramirez ousted Maurice Hooker.

CAF Cancels 2021 U-17 African Cup Of Nations

The Confederation of African Football has cancelled the 2021 U-17 African Cup Of Nations billed to kick-off on Friday in Rabat, Morocco.

There has been no official reason given by CAF for the cancellation, but reports claimed that the tournament was cancelled as a result of the closure of the Moroccan airspace until March 21, due to COVID-19.

The Golden Eaglets, who finished second at the U-17 WAFU tournament, were scheduled to depart the country on Tuesday for Morocco.

Algeria’s U-17 national team was expected to arrive in Morocco on Saturday but they are yet to be granted entry visa into Morocco.

Senegal, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia are the only countries who have reportedly arrived in the North African country for the tournament.
