Everton Held At Home By Palace

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti insisted his side are still in the fight for European qualification despite conceding a late leveller to Crystal Palace.

Palace substitute Michy Batshuayi equalised in the 86th minute, placing the ball beyond Robin Olsen into the bottom corner.

Returning from injury, Everton's James Rodriguez had given the Toffees a deserved lead with a superb right-footed strike in the 56th minute.

"The target is the same," Ancelotti told BBC Sport.

"We lost two points. We have to get those two points back in other games."

The result leaves Everton eighth, five points off fourth-placed West Ham having played one game fewer.

Palace's safety is all but guaranteed, the draw leaving them 12 points clear of the bottom three with eight games remaining.

April 6, 2021 North Korea Opt Out Of Tokyo Olympics

North Korea Opt Out Of Tokyo Olympics

North Korea has announced it will not take part in the Tokyo Olympics this year, saying the decision is to protect its athletes from Covid-19.

The decision puts an end to South Korea's hopes of using the Games to engage with the North amid stalled cross-border talks.

In 2018, both sides entered a joint team at the Winter Olympics which led to a series of historic summits.

Pyongyang says it has no cases of the virus but experts say this is unlikely.

The announcement makes North Korea the first major country to skip the delayed 2020 Games because of the pandemic. The event is due to begin on 23 July.

This will be the first time North Korea misses a Summer Olympics since 1988, when it it boycotted the Seoul games during the Cold War.

Barcelona Up To Second After Late Win Against Valladolid

Ousmane Dembele scored a dramatic late winner to give Barcelona victory over Real Valladolid and a huge boost in their La Liga title challenge.

Barcelona move up to second, one point behind leaders Atletico Madrid, thanks to a sixth La Liga win in a row.

Barca looked as if they were going to be frustrated but the turning point was Oscar Plano's straight red card for a dangerous foul on Dembele.

Dembele volleyed home in the last minute from Ronald Araujo's flick-on.

Both sides hit the woodwork in the first half - Kenan Kodro's header for Valladolid and Pedri's low drive for Barcelona being tipped on to the post.

Barcelona's title hopes are in their hands now after Atletico lost to Sevilla at the weekend. Barca visit Real Madrid in El Clasico this Saturday and host Atletico next month.

April 2, 2021 Haaland’s Representatives Visit Barca, Madrid For Talks

Haaland’s Representatives Visit Barca, Madrid For Talks

Erling Haaland's representatives have visited Barcelona and Madrid for talks.

Agent Mino Raiola and Alf Inge, the father of Borussia Dortmund striker Haaland, initially landed in Barcelona ahead of a meeting with Joan Laporta, who was elected as Barca president last month.

Raiola and Alf Inge Haaland then flew to Spain's capital for further talks with Real Madrid.

The talks increase speculation over Haaland's future, although it is unclear how Barcelona would finance a deal with the club wrestling with huge debt, caused largely by the coronavirus pandemic.

Haaland, 20, is under contract at Dortmund until 2024 but has a reported €75m (£66m) release clause, which comes into effect in the summer of 2022.
