Ondrej Kudela Suspended As UEFA Continue Investigations Into Rascism Allegations

The one-match ban issued to Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela "does little to instill confidence" in UEFA's approach to eradicating racism, says Rangers player Glen Kamara's lawyer.

Kudela, 34, denies Kamara's claim he racially abused him during Slavia's 2-0 Europa League win at Ibrox on 18 March.

The Czech has been given a provisional suspension for insulting an opponent while UEFA investigate the allegation

If found guilty of racism, he could face a 10-match ban.

UEFA says it is also investigating Kamara's behavior. Slavia claim Kudela was assaulted in the tunnel after the match in Glasgow.

Kudela will miss Thursday's quarter-final first-leg meeting with Arsenal. However, he was expected to be absent for the game in London anyway, owing to an injury sustained against Wales on duty with the Czech Republic.

A statement from UEFA concludes that more information "will be made available once the CEDB [Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body] has taken a decision in due course".

Irving Scores 40 Points As Nets Defeat Knicks

Kyrie Irving scored 40 points including a final-minute three-pointer to help the Brooklyn Nets fight back to beat the New York Knicks 114-112.

Brooklyn lost key player James Harden after only four minutes with a hamstring problem and trailed by 10 points at half-time.

However, Irving's late three-pointer secured victory for the Nets.

"A lot of guys stepped up, especially our bench. They came in and made a difference," Irving said.

Harden was making his return on Monday after missing two games with tightness in his right hamstring and appeared to suffer the same problem against the Knicks.

The Nets are top of the Eastern Conference with 35 wins and 16 defeats.

Elsewhere, the Dallas Mavericks extended their winning streak to five matches with a 111-103 victory over the Utah Jazz.

Devin Booker scored a game-high 36 points to help the Phoenix Suns beat the Houston Rockets 133-130, while the Toronto Raptors claimed a 103-101 win over the Washington Wizards.

April 7, 2021 Man City Post £126m Loss Recorded For 2019-2020

Man City Post £126m Loss Recorded For 2019-2020

League leaders Manchester City have reported a significant loss of £126m for the 2019-20 season which was disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The club posted an 11% reduction in revenue to £478.4m but the figure does not include delayed income from player sales - including proceeds from Leroy Sane's move to Bayern Munich.

City expect an immediate return to profit for the current season.

A total loss of less than £60m per year is forecast over the two campaigns.

For Financial Fair Play purposes, the financial results of football clubs for 2019-20 and 2020-21 are to be combined into one year.

Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said the club is "fundamentally strong, with committed shareholders and with significant assets, built carefully over a decade and upon more than a century of history".

"Our long-term approach has meant that we are now not wholly dependent on income streams that have been most vulnerable to the ongoing impact of Covid-19," he added.

The Premier League season was postponed between March and June 2020 due to the corona virus pandemic, which has since prevented fans from attending games.

City, who are 14 points clear of closest Premier League challengers Manchester United, are competing for four trophies in the latter stages of the 2020-21 campaign.

Real Madrid Outclass Liverpool In Quarter-Final First Leg

Liverpool was largely second best throughout an entertaining game against Real Madrid, who were missing their first-choice center-back pairing, but packed with impressive attacking talent.

Jurgen Klopp said Liverpool made it "too easy" for Real Madrid to win the quarter-final first leg between the sides, but feels Mohamed Salah's goal offers his side a lifeline in the return game at Anfield.

Much of the damage was done in the first half through Vinicius Junior's low drive after he had chested down a superb long pass from Toni Kroos and a Marco Asensio's close-range finish following a defensive mistake from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool came out fighting after the break, pulling a goal back through Salah's finish off the crossbar to spark their best 20-minute spell of the contest.

But they were stung again when Vinicius found the net via a first-time shot following a fine attacking move with 25 minutes to go, leaving them with a mountain to climb in the return leg at an empty Anfield on 14 April.

During their run to win the Champions League in 2019, Liverpool came back from a 3-0 away leg loss to beat Barcelona on aggregate via a stunning semi-final second leg full of ferocity and attacking brilliance.

They will need to do produce something similar if they are to beat Barca's fierce rivals in eight days time.
