Guardiola, Arteta And Klopp Lead The Nominees For EPL Manager Of The Season

The Premier League has unveiled the nominees for Manager of the Season, with Pep Guardiola of Manchester City and Mikel Arteta of Arsenal leading the race as they vie for the Premier League title. Joining them is Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth, alongside Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool, despite their recent dip in title contention.

Additionally, Unai Emery of Aston Villa has been recognized for his remarkable achievement in steering the team towards a potential top-four finish, marking their closest approach to such success since 1996.

Emery's exceptional leadership saw Aston Villa secure a club-record home winning streak, defeating formidable opponents like Arsenal and City during the season. Notably, Guardiola stands out as the sole nominee who has not previously received the Manager of the Month award throughout the season.

Chelsea Star Cole Palmer Wins Premier League Player Of The Month In April

Cole Palmer has been named the EA Sports Player of the Month for April 2024, marking his first win of the prestigious award. The Chelsea midfielder showcased an outstanding performance throughout the month, leading the league in goals with seven strikes, despite only making four appearances.

In addition to his impressive goal-scoring record, Palmer also provided an assist, directly contributing to a total of eight goals in April, a feat unmatched by any other player. His exceptional performance saw him rise to second place in the race for this season's Castrol Golden Boot award.

One of Palmer's standout moments came in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United, where he scored a hat-trick, including the equalizing and winning goals in second-half stoppage time. He continued his goal-scoring spree with four goals in a commanding 6-0 win over Everton, setting records as the first Chelsea player to score in seven consecutive Premier League home games and as the earliest scorer of a Chelsea hat-trick in a match, achieving the feat within 29 minutes of kick-off.

Previously recognized as the PL2 Player of the Month in October 2020 during his time at Manchester City, Palmer now adds another accolade to his name as the first Chelsea player to win the EA Sports Player of the Month award since Eden Hazard in September 2018.

Following his outstanding performances, Palmer emerged as the top choice from a six-man shortlist, combining public votes on the EA SPORTS website with those of a panel of football experts.

Fans also have the opportunity to vote for Palmer as the 2023/24 EA Sports Player of the Season, as he features on the eight-man shortlist unveiled on Thursday.

Joselu Scores A Late Double To Sink Bayern Munich, Sending Real Madrid To Their 18th Champions League Final

Following a 4-3 aggregate triumph against Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid advanced to the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium thanks to a stunning late double by former Stoke forward Joselu.

The tie was finely poised after four goals were scored in the first leg of the semi-final in Germany last week.

Madrid had an amazing 13-month unbeaten home record and a wealth of European history on their side, but they were on the verge of a second consecutive last-four exit in this competition when Bayern replacement Alphonso Davies scored a 68th-minute rocket.

It stunned a previously upbeat home crowd, but Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti worked his magic, turning to his bench to save the day.

Substitute, Joselu responded to the SOS by capitalizing on Manuel Neuer’s error to square the score after 88 minutes.

Three minutes later, he guided in a second, which was initially disallowed before being allowed after VAR intervened.

Ancelotti’s team endured an extended period of stoppage time, and Matthijs de Lift’s late shot was ruled off for the visitors, ensuring Madrid’s 18th appearance in a European Cup final, only days after winning LaLiga.

It also meant England captain Harry Kane, who was substituted with his team leading, would have a trophy-less maiden season with the German giants.

Real Madrid Take On Bayern Munich In Today’s Semi-Final Showdown

Real Madrid will face Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final tonight, following a 2-2 draw in the first leg at the Allianz Arena. Vinicius Jr scored twice for Madrid last week, leveling the scores after goals by Leroy Sane and Harry Kane for Bayern.

Thomas Tuchel's side now needs a victory at the Santiago Bernabeu to advance to the final. Tuchel acknowledged the challenge, stating, “It’s one of the most difficult stadiums to win in, but not impossible." He assessed Real's advantage at home as slight, saying, “Given that they’re at home, it’s maybe at 51 percent for Real.”

Madrid clinched their 36th La Liga title over the weekend, with just one league loss all season. Carlo Ancelotti, their manager, emphasized the unpredictability of the upcoming match, stating, “Anything can happen” as Madrid seeks to secure their 14th European Cup. “We respect [Bayern] because they did very well and better than us in the first leg,” Ancelotti admitted.
