Steven Gerrard & David Beckham inducted into Premier League Hall of Fame

David Beckham and Steven Gerrard are the latest former players to be added to the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Six Premier League titles were among the 10 trophies, including a European and domestic treble, that Beckham, 46, won with Manchester United.

Gerrard, 40, featured 710 times for the Reds, winning nine major trophies, including the Champions League.

The former midfielder is the first inductee not to have won a Premier League title, and the only Liverpool player to be included on the list.

Beckham is the third Manchester United player inducted this week, joining former team-mates Roy Keane and Eric Cantona.

Frank Lampard, Dennis Bergkamp, Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry are also Hall of Fame players.

Unlike the other inductees, Gerrard may not have picked up a Premier League winners medal, but he made a huge impression on the competition and collected some of the biggest domestic and European honours during his 17-year playing career at Anfield.

Manchester City’s Ruben Dias Named Football Writers’ Association Men’s Footballer Of Year

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has been named men's footballer of the year by the Football Writers' Association.

The 24-year-old Portugal international was signed by City for about from Benfica last summer.

"It is a huge privilege. Obviously I could not have done it without the success of the team," said Dias.

"I think me receiving this prize is the major example of how our team works, the way we build our game.

"It reflects all the togetherness we have on the pitch, how we perform and the spirit that is in the team and with these players."

The FWA said Dias was a "comfortable winner", finishing ahead of Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Dias' Manchester City team-mate Kevin de Bruyne.

Anthony Joshua To Tyson Fury: ‘You’ve Let Boxing Down. You Lied To The Fans’

Anthony Joshua called Tyson Fury "a fraud" in a furious social media exchange after the news that their heavyweight showdown might be off.

The pair looked set for a highly-anticipated meeting in August, but an arbitration hearing ruled Fury must first face American Deontay Wilder.

In response, Fury challenged Joshua to a bare-knuckle fight.

The teams behind the two British heavyweights have engaged in lengthy negotiations to get what has been billed as one of the biggest fights in heavyweight boxing for decades over the line.

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn was adamant their fight was agreed - and on Sunday, Fury told his Instagram followers he too has signed off on a 14 August bout in Saudi Arabia.

Just 24 hours later, Wilder's team - who had always said he had a contract in place for a third Fury fight - found out their arbitration hearing was successful.

Benzema In France 2020 Squad After Nearly 6 Years Absence

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been named in France's 26-man squad for this summer's European Championship after an absence of nearly six years.

He has not played for his country since 2015 as a result of his alleged involvement in an attempted blackmail case involving an ex-France team-mate.

33-year-old Benzema, missed France's Euro 2016 campaign and 2018 World Cup win as a result of the allegations.

In January 2021 French prosecutors announced Benzema would face trial.

He is accused of paying individuals to extort money from midfielder Mathieu Valbuena, 36, by threatening to make a sex tape public in 2015, but the striker argues a police officer used dishonest methods to draw him into the situation.

After confirming Benzema was in his squad, France manager Didier Deschamps said: "The most important is today and tomorrow.

"There were important steps. We saw each other. We discussed at length. I had a long reflection to come to this decision. I won't reveal a word of the discussion, that concerns us. I needed it, he needed it ".

Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko of Tottenham Hotspur, Everton left-back Lucas Digne, Chelsea's Kurt Zouma, Olivier Giroud and N'Golo Kante and Paul Pogba of Manchester United are all named in the France squad.
