UEFA Opens Proceedings Against Barcelona, Real Madrid And Juventus

European football's governing body, UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid over their involvement in the proposed European Super League.

The clubs were part of the 12 'founding' members of the breakaway league, which later collapsed.

The other nine clubs renounced the project but Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid have refused to do so.

The nine clubs involved - Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid - have been punished by European football's governing body for their participation.

UEFA said proceedings had been opened against the three "for a potential violation of UEFA's legal framework".

In a statement released on Tuesday, Uefa said: "Following an investigation conducted by Uefa ethics and disciplinary inspectors in connection with the so-called 'Super League' project, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus for a potential violation of Uefa's legal framework.

"Further information will be made available in due course."

Galtier Steps Down From Lille Job, Two Days After League Triumph

Christophe Galtier has stepped down as head coach of Lille just two days after they won the French league title.

The 54-year-old Frenchman helped Lille secure their first Ligue 1 championship in a decade on Sunday, finishing one point ahead of Paris St-Germain.

The announcement came after Lille took part in an open-top bus parade in the centre of the city to celebrate the title win with fans on Tuesday.

Galtier took over at Lille in December 2017 following Marcelo Bielsa's time at the club - with the side in serious relegation danger.

After keeping them up he then took Lille to second- and fourth-place finishes over the next two seasons before this season's title.

He had been expected to leave after new owners took control of the club halfway through the season.

"I simply have the deep belief that my time is up here," he told L'Equipe.

He said he was moving on to avoid "falling into a routine".

The Milwaukee Bucks produced an exhibition of three-point shooting to crush the Miami Heat and take a 2-0 first-round play-off lead over last year's NBA Finals runners-up.

The Bucks scored 22 out of 53 three-point attempts in the 132-98 win.

Bryn Forbes netted five threes in the first half and Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 31 points.

Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets bounced back to level their series 1-1 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Nikola Jokic scored 38 points while Michael Porter Jr had 18 in the 128-109 victory.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James will not face punishment for breaching NBA health and safety protocols by attending a promotional event, with the league saying he posed no risk of spreading Covid-19.

It was reported last week that James attended an outdoor photoshoot for his tequila brand with several celebrities before the Lakers' 103-100 win over the Golden State Warriors and was photographed without a mask at the event.
