Ukraine Earn First Win At Euro 2020

Ukraine bounced back from their opening defeat at Euro 2020 as they held on to beat tournament debutants North Macedonia in an entertaining encounter in Bucharest.

Having fought back from two goals down before ultimately losing 3-2 to the Netherlands on Sunday, Andriy Shevchenko's side ended a run of six successive European Championship defeats to remain in contention in Group C.

Captain Andriy Yarmolenko capitalised on poor defending from a corner after 28 minutes, before the West Ham forward's pass set up Roman Yaremchuk, who slotted neatly into the bottom corner five minutes later.

Leeds United's Ezgjan Alioski followed up his own saved penalty to hand a much-improved North Macedonia a second-half lifeline, but they could not find an equaliser despite goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski saving Ruslan Malinovskiy's penalty in the closing stages.

North Macedonia are the first team to be eliminated from Euro 2020 after the Netherlands' 2-0 win over Austria  meant they are guaranteed to finish bottom of the group.

Netherlands Reach Round Of 16 With Win Over AustriaThe Netherlands booked their spot in last 16 at Euro 2020 as they saw off Austria in Amsterdam to win Group C with a game to spare.

Frank de Boer's side, who beat Ukraine in their opening fixture, look to be hitting their stride as they outclassed the visitors in front of 12,000 fans at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Talisman Memphis Depay put the hosts ahead from the spot after David Alaba brought down flying wing-back Denzel Dumfries, who capped a fine performance by adding the second from a swift break in the second half.

The Dutch, who failed to qualify for the past two major tournaments, are into the knockout stages at the European Championship for the first time since 2008.

Austria started their campaign with victory over North Macedonia and their progression will be decided in the final group match against Ukraine.

Neymar Fires Brazil To Second Win At Copa America

Neymar moved to within nine goals of Pele's all-time scoring record as Brazil eased past Peru to earn a second win at the Copa America.

The hosts led early on when Juventus' Alex Sandro fired in from six yards.

After half-time, Neymar notched his 68th goal for his country; Pele later saying he was "rooting" for the Paris St-Germain striker to break his record.

Substitutes Everton Ribeiro and Richarlison added late goals to send Brazil top of Group B with two wins.

Brazil manager Tite has now seen his side score seven goals without reply following their opening 3-0 win over Venezuela as they set about defending the Copa America title they won in 2019.

Neymar sits above former striker Ronaldo in the country's all-time scoring records.

Arsenal Reject £25m Bid For Smith-Rowe

Arsenal have rejected a £25m bid from Aston Villa for highly-rated midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.

Villa have already signed Argentine midfielder Emiliano Buendia from Norwich for a record £33m this summer.

But it is understood there is little chance of tempting England under-21 international Smith Rowe to Villa Park.

The Gunners do not intend to sell and want to offer the 20-year-old academy product a new deal after a breakthrough season.

Smith Rowe's current contract expires in 2023.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are interested Brighton centre-back Ben White and Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
