Former Norwich Midfielder Devonte Aransibia Passes Away at 26

Former Norwich City and Maidstone United midfielder Devonte Aransibia has passed away at the age of 26.

His family announced his death on Tuesday, leaving the football community in mourning.

Aransibia began his football journey with Norwich City, featuring in their youth teams. However, after struggling to break into the first team, he continued his career at non-league level, playing for Potters Bar, Royston Town, Chelmsford, and Welling.

He was also a key part of the Maidstone United squad that had a memorable FA Cup run last season, famously defeating Ipswich Town on their way to the fifth round.

Following his passing, his family has set up a GoFundMe page and released an emotional tribute, describing him as a loving partner, devoted father, cherished son, and a dear friend to many.

Their statement read:
"Dev was the embodiment of kindness and compassion, always ready with a warm smile. His infectious laughter and generous spirit brightened every room he entered, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him."

They also highlighted his deep passion for football, stating:
"Beyond his loving nature, Dev was a talented footballer whose passion and drive propelled him to great success on the pitch."

The football community continues to mourn the loss of a promising talent and a beloved figure.

Championship: Ajayi Back in Action for West Brom After Long Injury Layoff

Semi Ajayi made his return to action for West Bromwich Albion in their Premier League 2 victory over Newcastle United on Monday night.

The Nigerian defender played the entire first half as he continues to build up his fitness after a lengthy injury layoff.

Ajayi had been sidelined for about four months after suffering a hamstring injury during the first half of West Brom’s Sky Bet Championship clash against Cardiff City last October.

He is expected to regain full match fitness within the next two weeks, which comes as a boost for Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March.

Ajayi is likely to be included in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Real Madrid’s Vazquez Ruled Out of UCL Clash Against Manchester City

Real Madrid’s defensive woes worsened ahead of their Champions League showdown against Manchester City, as Lucas Vazquez has been sidelined with a thigh injury.

The club confirmed on Sunday that Vazquez would not travel to Manchester, with Spanish reports indicating he could be out for three weeks. His absence adds to Madrid’s growing defensive concerns, with Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao also unavailable.

Los Blancos, the reigning European champions, will first take on City at the Etihad Stadium before hosting the return leg on February 19.

Vazquez picked up the injury during Saturday’s 1-1 derby draw against Atletico Madrid, where he was substituted in the 81st minute. Despite the setback, Madrid remains atop La Liga, maintaining a one-point lead over their city rivals.
