Mbappe Scores After Hat-Trick As PSG Maul  Lille

Kylian Mbappe scored after eight seconds on his way to a hat-trick as Paris St-Germain thrashed Lille to keep up their winning start to the season.

In a move off the training ground, the visitors fed Lionel Messi, who clipped the ball over the Lille defence for Mbappe to dink past Leo Jardim.

Messi added a second and Achraf Hakimi hit a third before Neymar scored twice.

Mbappe scored two more after the break while Jonathan Bamba pulled one back for the hosts.

PSG's biggest victory against Lille, who seized their French crown in 2020-21, means they are top of Ligue 1 after scoring 16 goals in their opening three wins in the defence of their title.

Lille drop to 12th place after this emphatic home defeat.

Lewandowski Scores First FC Barcelona Brace In Big Win Over Real Sociedad

Robert Lewandowski scored a brace as FC Barcelona cruised to a 4-1 victory at Real Sociedad on Sunday, their first win of the new La Liga season.

Spanish teenage sensation Ansu Fati came off the bench in the second half and took charge of the proceedings with two assists and a goal.

Fati had been struggling to recover after a series of knee surgeries in the last two years.

Lewandowski, who was celebrating his birthday, opened the scoring in the first minute of the game, rifling in a shot after a great pass from Alejandro Balde inside the penalty area.

But Alexander Isak equalized five minutes later after latching onto a pass from David Silva.

FC Barcelona struggled to break the deadlock until coach Xavi Hernandez sent on Raphinha and Fati in the 64th minute, with both proving crucial to the visitors’ success.

Fati assisted Ousmane Dembele with a brilliant heel pass after a fine piece of individual play from Raphinha.

Then Fati finished a beautiful team effort to assist Lewandowski for their third goal.

The Polish striker returned the favour 10 minutes later, enabling 19-year-old Fati to score FC Barcelona’s fourth to wrap up the points.

August 22, 2022 Mane Strikes Twice As Imperious Bayern Crush Bochum 7-0

Mane Strikes Twice As Imperious Bayern Crush Bochum 7-0

Champions Bayern Munich demolished hosts VfL Bochum 7-0 on Sunday, with new signing Sadio Mane scoring twice, to maintain their perfect start to the season.

The Bavarians are two points clear at the top with nine points from three league games in the Bundesliga.

They have now scored a league-record 15 goals in their three games even though top striker Robert Lewandowski left this season to join FC Barcelona.

On Sunday they went on a first-half rampage, scoring four times in 38 minutes to kill off the game.

The visitors took a fourth-minute lead through Leroy Sane with their first attack of the game.

New signing Matthijs de Ligt got onto the scoresheet with his first ever effort on goal for Bayern, heading in a corner at the far post in the 25th minute.

Kingsley Coman’s shot from close range after Bochum failed to clear just past the half-hour mark made it 3-0.

It all but put the game beyond doubt, before Mane completed the first-half frenzy with his second goal of the season – a low shot from a tight angle in the 42nd minute.

Bayern eased off the gas after the break, but the Senegal international added another with a penalty on the hour.

Cristian Gamboa, under pressure from Sane, scored an own goal, piling further misery on the hosts.

Substitute Serge Gnabry make it look so easy when he thundered in a low shot off the post to make it 7-0.

Newcastle And Man City Draw In Six-Goal Thriller

Manchester City displayed their championship resolve as they came from two goals down to salvage a 3-3 draw in an all-action game at Newcastle.

City won 27 of their previous 28 games when scoring first but, after Ilkay Gundogan's early opener, that record looked in danger as they fell 3-1 behind through a display of intensity and attacking intent labelled a "brilliant response" by Eddie Howe.

Allan Saint-Maximin made all three of Newcastle's goals as City found it impossible to deal with the winger's pace and power, first crossing for Miguel Almiron to level with a diving header which was initially ruled out for offside before a VAR intervention.

After a surging run forward Saint-Maximin then found Callum Wilson for the second, with the striker beating Ruben Dias before firing past Ederson. Kieran Trippier then curled in a third with a stunning free-kick after Saint-Maximin had been fouled by John Stones.

But City, unbeaten in the Premier League since February, would not go down without a fight and were given a lifeline when Erling Haaland rifled home from a corner, before Bernardo Silva finished off a piece of genius playmaking from Kevin De Bruyne to level things up again.

The drama was not limited to the goalmouths with Trippier shown a red card by referee Jarred Gillett for a high challenge on De Bruyne, but VAR stepped in again and the decision was downgraded to a booking, and neither side could then find another breakthrough late on as a pulsating match at St James' Park ended level.
