Rapinoe, Morgan In US Squad For Falcons Friendlies

Vlatko Andonovski, head coach of the US Women’s National Team, has named 23 players for the double-header friendlies between the Americans and the Super Falcons next month.

The US, four-time World Cup champions and four Olympic Games gold winners, play the nine-time African champions first at the Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas on September 3, before squaring off again at the Audi Field in Washington three days later.

The USWNT, who are the most successful team in the world, and the Falcons, the most successful team in Africa, have both qualified for the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The back-to-back World Cup champions qualified for the 2023 World Cup and 2024 Olympic Games by winning the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship last month, while the Falcons booked a place at the Mundial after reaching the last four of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco last month.

Ahead of the clash, Andonovski released the list with captain Megan Rapinoe and star forward Alex Morgan the two biggest stars invited for the game.

The list includes all the players – except Emily Sonnett, who is recovering from injury – that won the CONCACAF W Championship in July undefeated without conceding a goal.

Casemiro Introduced As Manchester United Player At Old Trafford

Casemiro was introduced as a Manchester United player before the club's home game with rivals Liverpool on Monday after joining from Real Madrid.

United will pay up to £70m for the Brazil midfielder, who has signed a four-year deal at Old Trafford.

Casemiro says he is joining "the biggest team in the world" after bidding an emotional farewell to Real.

The 30-year-old becomes one of the top earners at Old Trafford but he says the move is not motivated by money.

After joining from Sao Paulo in 2013, Casemiro helped Real win the Champions League five times, plus La Liga three times and the Cope del Rey once.

He started last season's Champions League final, as Real beat Liverpool to become European champions for the 14th time, and he made his 336th appearance for the Spanish giants as a substitute in last week's opening-day win at Almeria.

He bid an emotional farewell to the Spanish champions on Monday, before travelling to Manchester.

Cremonese's best chance fell to striker Cyriel Dessers, but the Nigerian's strike rattled the crossbar.

Roma, who won the inaugural Europa Conference League last season, are yet to concede this campaign.

Manchester United Beat Liverpool 2 – 1 To Record First Win

Manchester United produced an outstanding display to defeat Liverpool and give manager Erik ten Hag his first Premier League victory at a thunderous Old Trafford.

Ten Hag took the bold decision to drop captain Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo and was rewarded with a performance that lifted the mood of crisis around Manchester United and leave Liverpool still searching for a first win of the season.

Jadon Sancho showed superb control and composure to deservedly put United in front after 16 minutes before Marcus Rashford raced clear to beat Alisson from substitute Anthony Martial’s pass eight minutes after the interval.

Mo Salah set up a tense finish when he scrambled in a header with nine minutes left but United survived to give Ten Hag just the sort of victory he needs to make his mark at Old Trafford.
