Beer Sales Banned At World Cup Stadium In Qatar

Fifa has confirmed that alcohol would not be sold at the World Cup's eight stadiums in Qatar.

Despite the fact that alcohol is legally prohibited in the Muslim nation, it was planned to be provided "in certain places inside stadiums."

Those in corporate zones of tournament venues will be permitted to buy alcohol.

The shift in approach comes two days before Qatar's World Cup opener against Ecuador on Sunday.

"Following discussions between host country authorities and Fifa, a decision has been made to focus the sale of alcoholic beverages on the Fifa fan festival, other fan destinations and licensed venues, removing sales points of beer from Qatar's Fifa World Cup 2022 stadium perimeters," said a statement from world football's governing body.

"There is no impact to the sale of Bud Zero which will remain available at all Qatar's World Cup stadiums.

"Host country authorities and Fifa will continue to ensure that the stadiums and surrounding areas provide an enjoyable, respectful and pleasant experience for all fans.

"The tournament organisers appreciate AB InBev's understanding and continuous support to our joint commitment to cater for everyone during the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022."

Adesanya Arrested In US Over Metal Knuckles

Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya was allegedly detained for bringing brass knuckles past security at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport.

The 33-year-old was detained by Port Authority police at the American Airlines terminal on Wednesday after losing his championship by TKO to Alex Pereira in New York last Saturday.

According to the Daily Mail, a Port Authority representative at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport confirmed the incident, stating Adesanya was arrested for possessing 'metal knuckles.'

Brass knuckles are a Class A misdemeanor in New York, and they are also prohibited on airplanes. It is unclear where Adesanya reportedly kept the firearm.

The UFC has yet to issue a statement in response to the incident.

Adesanya's defeat has pushed him down the pound-for-pound rankings, from No. 2 to No. 8 on MMAfighting.com.

Adesanya, a native of Lagos, Nigeria, is now a New Zealand citizen and resides in Auckland.

Longtime rivals Adesanya and Pereira squared off on Saturday for the UFC middleweight title, with the latter emerging triumphant following a stunning TKO finish late in the fight.

Despite concerns that referee Marc Goddard prematurely ended the bout, Canadian boxer and trainer Firas Zahabi believes Adesanya should be 'grateful' for the decision.

Cristiano Ronaldo Speaks Up On Baby Son’s Death, Calls It The Most Difficult Time Of His Life

Ronaldo missed one Manchester United match after his son died before making a fast recovery.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the world's most renowned soccer star, has spoken out about the tragic loss he suffered when his baby died during birth earlier this year, calling it the worst experience he's had since his father died in 2005.

CR7 was candid in an interview with Piers Morgan last week on how it felt to be overwhelmed with pleasure and sadness after giving birth to his daughter while still mourning the loss of his son.

"It is probably the worst moment that has passed through my life since my father died," Ronaldo said.

“When you have a kid, you expect that everything will be normal, and when you have that problem, it's hard. As human beings, me and Georgina had quite difficult moments, because we don't understand why it happened to us. It was difficult, to be honest, it was very, very difficult to understand what's going on in that period of our life."

"I try to explain sometimes to my family and close friends, they say, 'I never felt to be happy and sad in the same moment.'"

"It's hard to explain -- so difficult -- You don't know if you cry, you don't know if you smile, Because it's something you don't know how to react. You don't know what to do to be honest." Cristiano added.

In addition to announcing the birth of their daughter and the loss of her twin brother, Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez broke the devastating news back in April.

Ailing Nwosu Gets Lagos Govt Support

Former Super Eagles midfielder Henry Nwosu will go to Lagos with his sisters on Wednesday for medical treatment.

The 59-year-old, who has been receiving treatment at the Asaba Specialist Hospital in Delta State since February, is fighting for his life, having spent all of his money in the process.

Nwosu will be transported from the Asaba Specialist Facility in Delta State to a well-equipped hospital in Lagos for additional treatment for an unspecified disease.

The change is intended to improve his medical care and prevent his death from occurring too soon.

His former colleague, Segun Odegbami, reported this to our reporter on Tuesday, as well as the fact that Delta State has promised to pay off all outstanding invoices.

"The earth has shifted hours after Monday's alert on Henry Nwosu's health situation," Odegbami said.

"I have some good news to share. I feel it is appropriate to provide an update. His health situation stays the same - deteriorating.

“Positive reactions have, however, been pouring in. Many concerned Nigerians are offering to lend support in any and every way possible. That now appears to create a problem – the nature and coordination of the support Henry Nwosu needs and can get, and how to offer it outside of any direct financial contribution to anybody,” Odegbami said.

“The Delta State government has fulfilled its pledge by taking full financial responsibility for all of Henry’s care in Asaba. With his deteriorating situation, however, everyone in the loop of the conversations since yesterday (Monday) has agreed that Henry (Nwosu) needs to be moved immediately to a higher level of medical facilities and care,” he added.

“The Governor of Lagos State, on being informed about it, directed immediately that the doors to Lagos State’s best medical facilities be thrown open to Henry. The Delta State government has been informed about this new plan and they are happy to cooperate and make it happen ASAP. The pledge by the Imo State government still sustains and all they need is information on developments”, he wrote.

“One of the big telecommunication companies in Lagos has made contact and wants to know what help is needed. They will be kept informed, just as the Femi Otedola Foundation will need a clearer picture of what is to be done. Members of Henry Nwosu’s family, his sisters that have been passing through this hell with him since February to date, are happy to have some guidance and better coordination of the specifics of what should be done,” Odegbami stated.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau visited former Nwosu in Asaba where he is receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment for some weeks now.

Nwosu, the youngest player in the Nigeria squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations title on home soil in 1980, had been in the hospital for some time now, with top politicians, captains of industry and football chieftains all showing interest in his health status.

“I can assure you that all Nigerians, from our political leaders to business gurus and all football people, are interested in seeing you recover from this illness,” Gusau said in a statement.
