Kylian Mbappe To Miss Champions League Tie With Injury

Due to a thigh injury, Kylian Mbappe of Paris St. Germain will miss the opening leg of his team's Champions League matchup against Bayern Munich.

The France attacker is sidelined for three weeks after suffering an injury in Wednesday's 3-1 victory against Montpellier.

The 24-year-old had a terrible night, missing two penalties and an easy goal before being taken off after 21 minutes.

The German champions will visit PSG on February 14.

Mbappe will also miss his team's games against Marseille in the French Cup on February 8 and Monaco in Ligue 1 three days later.

In 26 games this season, the forward has scored 25 goals for his team.

Germany hosts the second match against Bayern on March 8.

Martinelli Signs New Arsenal Contract

Gabriel Martinelli, a striker for Arsenal, has agreed to a new, long-term deal.

The 21-year-old international from Brazil, Ituano, arrived in the summer of 2019 and has played in 111 matches across all competitions.

This season, he has been a constant in the Premier League, scoring seven goals to help the Gunners go five points ahead atop the standings.

"Gabi is still very young, so we know there's still much more to come from him," said manager Mikel Arteta.

"Our supporters see his quality and energy every single time he puts on the shirt and he's the same every day in training, with his hard work and positive values.

"We're now excited to continue to develop his huge talent and look forward to seeing him perform with Arsenal in the years to come."

Martinelli made eight appearances for the Brazil U23 side before making his senior debut in March 2022.

He was part of the Brazil squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, making two appearances as the Selecao reached the quarter-finals.

EPL: Super Eagles Striker, Paul Onuachu Signs For Southampton

Paul Onuachu, a striker for the Super Eagles, has moved from Genk to permanently join Southampton.

Onuachu has committed to the Premier League team for three and a half years.

The South Coast club beat Bundesliga side, Eintracht Frankfurt to the forward.

Southampton manager Nathan Jones said: “Paul is a significant signing for us and completes what has been an extremely positive month in terms of recruitment.

“He’s a handful to play against, has got a tremendous record throughout his career and he’s also someone who brings great experience with him, so he’ll be a really positive addition to the squad.”

Onuachu has a strong reputation entering the St Mary's Stadium after scoring 17 goals in 22 games for Genk this season.

He left the club with a total of 85 goals in 134 appearances after joining in 2019 from the Danish team FC Midtjylland.

EPL: Conte Undergoes Emergency Surgery

Antonio Conte, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, has been granted a leave of absence by the organization because he will need emergency surgery today to remove his gallbladder.

Through a short statement on its website, Tottenham reaffirmed this.

Conte had considerable stomach discomfort when he became unwell earlier this week.

Cholecystitis, a disorder that results in gallbladder enlargement and redness, has been identified as the illness afflicting the former Chelsea manager.

“Antonio Conte recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain,” Tottenham’s statement read.

“Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today and will return following a period of recuperation. Everyone at the Club wishes him well.”
