Edinson Cavani held the record with 200 goals, but Mbappé has joined the Uruguayan with his double in a 3-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1.

On Sunday, Kylian Mbappé made history by becoming Paris Saint-Germain's joint all-time top scorer with Edinson Cavani, who previously held the record with 200 goals.

Mbappé scored two goals in PSG's 3-0 win over Marseille in Ligue 1, bringing his total to an impressive 200 goals in 247 games.

In comparison, it took Cavani seven years and 301 games to achieve the same feat.

Man Utd Beat Newcastle To Win Carabao Cup

After a six-year drought, Manchester United finally claimed a silverware victory, defeating Newcastle United 2-0 in the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The team's previous major trophy triumph was in the 2017 Europa League campaign, but they showed confidence in their performance against Eddie Howe's squad.

With a goal from Casemiro's header and a score by Marcus Rashford, Newcastle faced an insurmountable challenge, appearing in their first League Cup final since 1976.

"It has been an amazing period, the first trophy of the season, but we want more -- it is not enough for this club, we want more, and we need more because our standards demand more," Bruno Fernandes said.

"For me, it was about winning trophies, and finally we did it. I am satisfied, but I want more. I want much more."

Legendary Commentator, John Motson Dies Aged 77

John Motson, the legendary commentator who had a distinguished 50-year career with the BBC, passed away at 77.

Fondly referred to as 'Motty', he covered 10 World Cups, 10 European Championships, and 29 FA Cup finals for BBC Sport and had been associated with Match of the Day since 1971.

Motson retired from the BBC in 2018. His family released a statement announcing that he died peacefully on Thursday. He is survived by his wife, Anne and son Frederick.

"John Motson was the voice of a footballing generation - steering us through the twists and turns of FA Cup runs, the highs and lows of World Cups, and, of course, Saturday nights on Match of the Day," said BBC director-general, Tim Davie.

"Like all the greats behind the mic, John had the right words, at the right time, for all the big moments."

Regulators to Block English Clubs Joining Super League

The UK government has confirmed the establishment of a new independent regulator for English football, in line with a recommendation made by a fan-led review last year.

The regulator will hold the power to prevent clubs from joining a proposed breakaway European Super League, as well as prevent historic clubs from going out of business.

The move aims to safeguard English football's cultural heritage by giving fans greater input and introducing a new owners' and directors' test.

The English game remains one of the UK's greatest cultural exports, with clubs and leagues around the world modelling themselves on its success," the government said before its white paper on football governance - a policy document which outlines the proposed legislation - is released on Thursday.

"That is why the government is today taking the necessary and targeted steps to ensure that continues for generations."
