Premier League club Everton is reportedly keen on acquiring Manchester United's talented Swedish forward, Anthony Elanga, who is currently available for transfer within the price range of £15-20 million.

Elanga, at the age of 21, made his debut for Manchester United as a teenager in 2021, showcasing promising performances. While he has scored four goals in 55 appearances, he faced a goal drought in the previous season, failing to find the back of the net in 26 games.

In fact, Elanga was on the verge of joining Everton on loan during the January transfer window, but it remains uncertain if the club is willing to meet Manchester United's valuation for the player at this time.

Notably, there is also interest from clubs in Germany eyeing a potential signing of the talented Swedish international.

Meanwhile, Manchester United has been active in the transfer market, securing the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea for a hefty fee of £55 million. The club is also hopeful of finalizing a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

However, to finance further transfers, Manchester United recognizes the need to offload some players.

In a separate move, Everton has made a notable signing by acquiring Ashley Young on a free transfer after the defender's departure from Aston Villa. The former England international has committed to a one-year deal with the club.

Premier League treble winners Manchester City have emerged as the club to receive the highest payments from FIFA for releasing players for the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar.

Out of FIFA's total payments to clubs amounting to $209 million (£160.91 million), Manchester City received $4.6 million (£3.54 million), securing the top spot on the list. Following closely behind were Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Paris St-Germain.

English clubs collectively received the highest amount among all countries, with a total of $37.7 million (£29 million). The overall distribution of funds favored European teams, as they received £158.9 million (£122.33 million), constituting 76% of the total sum disbursed.

The payments were calculated based on the number of days each of the 837 players spent participating in the tournament, which took place from November 20 to December 18.

According to FIFA, the overall payment equated to $10,950 (£9,388) per player per day.

President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that the payment figure will increase for the 2026 and 2030 editions of the World Cup, as the tournaments will expand from 32 to 48 participating countries.

A total of 440 clubs received some form of payment, with the actual amount calculated to include player transfers during the qualification phase.

In total, 46 English, two Welsh, and seven Scottish clubs received income from the FIFA payments, highlighting the broad distribution among teams across the UK.

Samuel Eto'o, the renowned former footballer and current president of Cameroon's football federation, has been urged to step down from his position due to alleged "grave irregularities" within the organization.

The Amateur Clubs' Association of Cameroon (ACFAC) recently conducted a vote, with 11 out of 12 clubs in favor of Eto'o's resignation. ACFAC emphasized that if Eto'o truly cares for Cameroonian football, as he has always claimed, he should willingly step aside.

ACFAC has called for intervention from Cameroon's sports minister and even raised the possibility of involving FIFA President Gianni Infantino in the matter.

The association outlined various concerns, including the controversial extension of the Fecafoot president's mandate from four to seven years, which it deemed contrary to statutory regulations. ACFAC also criticized the lack of transparency surrounding the publication of new statutes adopted in August of the previous year.

Additionally, questions were raised regarding Eto'o's involvement in an ambassadorial role with a sports betting company, potentially violating both FIFA and Fecafoot regulations. FIFA's code prohibits individuals bound by it from participating in any form of betting or gambling related to football activities.

Sanctions for violating the ethics code can include fines or even bans from football. However, it remains unclear whether Eto'o personally benefits financially from his association with the company.

In late June, UMS de Loum, a prominent Cameroonian club, requested that Fecafoot investigate the matter. The club also brought it to the attention of both FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

It is worth noting that Fecafoot has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the same betting company to support the men's and women's national teams, as well as the top two divisions of Cameroon's football league.

Brighton's esteemed captain, Lewis Dunk, has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2026. The 31-year-old central defender has been a mainstay at Brighton since his debut in League One back in 2010, accumulating an impressive 416 appearances.
