PRESIDENT BUHARI ARRIVES NIGERIA AFTER PRIVATE TRIP TO LONDON

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has returned to Abuja after a 10-day private visit to the UK.

 The President’s aircraft landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 6.24 pm yesterday.

 In a statement on the arrival of the President, FEMI ADESINA, his spokesman, said some reckless online media and irresponsible political opposition and individuals, had gone on overdrive since the president left the country on April 25, insinuating that he was going for hospitalization, and would not return after 10 days as stated.

 President BUHARI was believed to have taken a vacation after his re-election campaign, although the classification of his trip as private by his media team led to suggestions that he took a medical leave.

Alexandre Lacazette Wins Arsenal Player of The Year Award

French striker, ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE, has been voted Arsenal Player of the year.

The former Lyon player, who has netted 18 times for the club in all competitions this season, won the gong after he was voted for by the club’s fans.

LACAZETTE won 35 percent of the votes cast by supporters in London and Arsenal announced him as the winner yesterday.

He scored twice on Thursday in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Valencia in the first leg semi-final in the Europa League. The return leg comes up in Spain next week.

PRESIDENT BUHARI TO RECEIVE MARIA ESPINOSA OF THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI is expected to receive the President of the United Nations General Assembly, MARIA ESPINOSA, who is paying a one-day official visit to Nigeria on Monday.

 

Ms ESPINOSA’s Spokesperson, MONICA GRAVLEY, announced this at a media briefing at the UN headquarters in New York.

 

According to her, the PGA’s visit to Nigeria is part of her eight-day official trip to Central and West Africa.

NIGERIA ARMY EXPANDS EXERCISE TO TACKLE BANDITRY IN THE COUNTRY

The Nigerian Army says it will re-organise the ongoing exercise Harbin Kunama III and expand its mandate following resurgence of banditry in the North West.

 

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TUKUR BURATAI, who announced this at a news conference in Abujasaid that though Harbin Kunam III, launched on April 1, had achieved a lot in Zamfara, there was resurgence of bandits’ activities in contiguous states.

 

 

The Army chief was represented by Major General LAMIDI ADEOSUN, Chief of Training and Operations.
