Beyonce’s ‘Homecoming’ Documentary Lands Six Emmy Nominations.

 ‘Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé’ has been nominated for six Emmys, and a win in most of those categories would go to her personally.

Reports say Beyoncé would share in the award for co-director, writer and co-musical director as well as a producer.

The Netflix film is up for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded), directing, writing, music direction, production design and costumes.

Beyoncé had previously been nominated for four Emmys but has not yet won one.

Her prior nominations were for a variety of special and variety special directing.

Nigeria Immigration Service Generate N39.06bn Through Issuance Of Passports In 2018.

The Nigeria Immigration Service generated a total of N39.06bn through the issuance of passports and other services within the 2018 fiscal period.

 

The figure is contained in a report on the activities of the agency which was released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

 

The NBS in the report said the amount generated by NIS in 2018 represents an increase of 9.34 per cent over the N35.72bn local revenue generated in 2017.

 

In terms of passport application, the report stated that a total of 1,011,158 passport applications were received in 2018 as against 720,958 received in 2017

Senate Calls For Immediate Convocation Of A National Security Summit To Address High Level Insecurity In The Country.

The Senate has called for immediate convocation of a National Security Summit to address high level insecurity in the country.

 

This followed a point of order raised by Ondo state Senator AYO AKINYELURE over the killing of Mrs. FUNKE OLAKUNRIN.

 

The daughter of Pa REUBEN FASORANTI, a leader of the Afenifere, was shot dead by gunmen along Akure-Ore Road in Ondo State on Friday.

 

AKINYELURE expressed concern over the killing and similar ones, which he described as “increasing and incessant murder of innocent Nigerians by gunmen along major highways in the country.”

 

Also adding his voice to the debate, Senator TOLU ODEBIYI called on the Senate to liaise with the presidency and security formations and take immediate action on insecurity ravaging parts of the country.

In the meantime, Senate President AHMAD LAWAN has condemned the continuous killing of Nigerians in South Africa.

 

He warned that further attack on Nigerians in South Africa would no longer be condoned.

 

LAWAN gave the warning when he hosted the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, BOBBY MOROE.

 

MOROE and his delegation paid the visit to brief the Senate leadership on his government’s investigations to unravel the causes of the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and steps being taken to stop such attacks.
