Presidency Reacts To Video Released By Boko Haram, Showing Captives Calling For Urgent Action To Secure Their Release.

The Presidency has said that a new video released by Boko Haram, showing captives was disturbing and called for urgent action by the relevant security agencies.

 

It said urgent efforts must be made to secure the release of the captives, including LEAH SHARIBU and the last of the Dapchi schoolgirls still being held by the terrorist group.

 

In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, GARBA SHEHU, the Presidency noted that the captives included humanitarian aid workers and a religious leader.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 23 election, ATIKU ABUBAKAR, has said that the current travel ban imposed by the United States on some politicians in Nigeria has validated his claim that the presidential election was rigged in favour of the APC and President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

 

The former Vice President in a statement by his media aide, Mr. PAUL IBE, said he had maintained after the presidential election that the poll was not credible.

 

He further alleged that the leadership under BUHARI and his allies engaged in propaganda to deny that the election was rigged.

Presidency Organizes Policy Dialogue To Consolidate Next Level Agenda

The presidency has organized a 2-day policy dialogue session in Abuja geared towards advising the government over the next four years to deliver on salient policies.

 

President  Muhammadu Buhari declared open the event which also had in attendance, the vice president, principal members of the National Assembly, State Governors, Business leaders, APC leadership, among others.

 

Speaking at the event, President BUHARI said he expects the discussions at the retreat to dwell on high impact initiatives and strategies that can be adopted for the next four years.

Monetary Policy Committee Of The CBN Retains Rate At 13.5 Percent.

 

 

The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria has left the Monetary Policy Rate unchanged at 13.5 per cent.

 

The CBN Governor, GODWIN EMEFIELE, announced the decision of the committee at the end of a two-day meeting held at the apex bank’s headquarters in Abuja.

 

He explained that all the 11 members that attended the meeting agreed to retain the current monetary policy stance.

 

GODWIN EMEFIELE said apart from the MPR that was retained at 13.5 per cent, the committee decided to hold the Cash Reserves Ratio at 22.5 per cent.
