Kogi APC Suspend Deputy Governor Simon Achuba Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The state chapter of the All Progressives Congress has suspended the Deputy Governor of Kogi state, SIMON ACHUBA for alleged anti-party activities before, during and after the 2019 general elections.

 

The party based the suspension on some actions the embattled deputy governor took that constitute an embarrassment to APC family in Kogi state.

 

State APC chairman, ABDULLAHI BELLO, told reporters in Lokoja the party received several petitions from stakeholders in Iyano ward, Ibaji Local Government Area, where the Deputy Governor hails from.

               

He added that the decision of the state working committee will be communicated to the APC National Working Committee in due course.

 

Just in the week, the state House of Assembly also commenced impeachment proceedings against the Deputy Governor for gross misconduct.

Court Grants DSS Permission To Detain Sowore For 45 days

Reactions have been trailing the decision of Abuja Federal High Court granting the request by the DSS to keep the convener of the #RevolutionNow protests, OMOYELE SOWORE, for 45 days.

The court presided over by Justice TAIWO TAIWOsaid this is to enable the DSS carry out and conclude its investigation of SOWORE on allegations of instigating the public and seeking a change of government in the country.

Lawyer to SOWORE, FEMI FALANA said that he would file an application to challenge the detention order.

He said SOWORE had envisaged the ruling and had instructed that it should be challenged.

Many organisations including the European Union, Afenifere, Committee for theDefence of Human Rights and Free Nigeria Movement have faulted the order.

BUHARI Orders Immediate Investigation Of Killing Of Three Police Officers And One Civilian By Troops

President MUHAMMADU leadership of the Defence Headquarters to investigate the killing of three police officers and one civilian by troops of the 93 Battalion in Taraba State.

Air Marshal SADIQUE ABUBAKAR, the Chief of Air Staff, disclosed this after a meeting of the National Security Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Air Marshall ABUBAKAR said President BUHARI directed the defence headquarters to take over the investigation.

Air MARSHAL SADIQUE, who assured citizens of their safety, said technology would continue to play a very critical role in addressing security challenges in the country.

But the army in a statement issued by its acting Director of Army Public Relations, SAGIR MUSA said the incident occurred due to a lack of communication between the police and military hierarchy.

Army kills three policemen in Taraba

The police are not giving up on knowing why soldiers killed three of their officers who were on a covert operation in Taraba State.

Force spokesman, FRANK MBA, in a statement said the police demanded to know the whereabouts of a notorious kidnap suspect, HAMISU BALA WADUME.

He explained that the slain officer’s, Inspector MARK EDAILE, Sergeant USMAN DANZUMI, and Sergeant DAHIRU MUSA were on a mission to arrest WADUME who was said to be indicted in a series of high-profile kidnap incidents in the state.

MBA added that while the suspect was arrested, the policemen were killed by soldiers after which they allegedly freed him.
