Governor Sanwo-Olu Welcomes Operation Crocodile Smile Iv In Lagos.

Governor of Lagos State, BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU has welcomed Operation Crocodile Smile IV by the Nigerian Army, saying the exercise is a right move towards ensuring peace and security in the South West and South South regions during the festive season.

The Governor assured the Nigerian Army of his administration’s continued support as it engages in intensive security duties in the state while also urging citizens to be security conscious.

 SANWO-OLU stated this during the flag-off ceremony of the Nigeria Army’s 81 Division Exercise Crocodile Smile IV for Lagos and Ogun States held at Takwa Bay, Lagos.

Federal Government Orders NBC To Formulate New Broadcast Laws.

The Federal Government has directed the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC to immediately come up with fresh regulations that would promote local broadcast industry and protect it from monopolistic tendencies.

 The Minister of Information and Culture, AlhajiLAI MOHAMMED, gave the directive in Abuja when he received the report of the NBC Reform Implementation Committee chaired by Professor ARMSTRONG IDACHABA.

 The minister also urged the NBC to review its fines from N500,000 to N5,000,000 for breaches relating to hate speeches.

 LAI MOHAMMED also directed the commission to come up with regulations for the broadcast of content on the Internet and the web.

Independent National Electoral Commission Declares Kogi West Senatorial Rerun Election Inconclusive.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has resumed the collation of results of the governorship election in Kogi State.

 

INEC Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Umar, announced the suspension of the exercise on Sunday in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

 

Collation officers for the remaining two local governments of Ibaji and Lokoja have also turned in their results.

Inec Declares Apc Candidate, David Lyon Winner Of Governorship Election In Bayelsa State.

INEC has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, David Lyon as winner of governorship election in Bayelsa State.

INEC Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Faraday Orunmuwese, announced the result early today.

He said the APC candidate polled a total of 352,552 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Duoye Diri, who scored 143,172 votes.
