The Presidency has said there is nothing wrong in having ‘cabals’ around the President, Muhammadu Buhari, so long they help him to run government.

It said every government around the world had such people.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement said many of those wrongly referred to as members of cabals were successful people, who were making extreme sacrifices to serve in government.

He also re-emphasised the need to regulate the social media, saying its abuse had wrecked many homes and lives.

He lamented that Information managers in Buhari’s administration no longer have regard for the views of the people. 

In Edo state, the Obaseki/Shaibu Movement, a support group for the re-election of Governor, Godwin Obaseki; and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu has rejected the APC reconciliation committee led by Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.

The committee was set up by the party’s National Working Committee to resolve the lingering crisis in the state chapter.

The former National Chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun declared support for the second term bid of Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Edo State Indigenes in Abuja, Oyegun asked those who are against the governor’s ambition to have a re-think.

The former Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke is currently in the custody of the EFCC.

He was handed over to the agency yesterday by the Interpol on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja from Dubai.

Adoke was taken into custody by the EFCC for his alleged involvement in the granting of the Oil Prospecting License (OPL) 245 to Shell and Eni.His lawyer, Mike Ozekhome said Adoke is innocent of charges against him.

The Special assistant to the EFCC Chairman on Media, Tony Amokeodo denied the claim by Adoke’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome that he was not being allowed access to anyone by security operatives.

The Lagos state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress says the opposition Peoples Democratic Party should forget the dream of winning any election in the state in future.

The State Chairman of the party, Tunde Balogun made this pronouncement while receiving decamping top members of the PDP at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja.

Leading members of the PDP who dumped the party for APC includes; former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, a former PDP leader in Ikeja constituency, Mutiu Okunola, Alhaji Raman Falawe (Lagos Island), Jebe Dayo (Mushin),Tajudeen Agoro (Lagos Mainland), and Arisekola Afeez from Accord Party, Mushin).

Tunde Balogun added that the defectors decided to join the APC because of purposeful leadership the party had been giving to Lagosians in the last 20 years.

He also said that since politics is about numbers, their additions will further strengthen the stronghold of the APC in Lagos State.

The decampees after receiving APC flag, Mutiu Okunola said he defected to the APC with his supporters to change the narratives and strengthen the stronghold of the party in the south western region of the country.
