Campaign Against Impunity Calls For Release Of Former Senator, Shehu Sani

A Civil rights group, Campaign against Impunity, has called for immediate and unconditional release of former Senator, Shehu Sani who has been in the EFCC’s custody since the eve of New Year.

National Coordinator of the group, Shina Loremikan said the call became necessary since the action of the EFCC violates his fundamental human rights.

Shehu Sani is being held in EFCC custody over alleged involvement in name-dropping and obtaining $25,000 from Alhaji Sani Dauda, the boss of ASD Motors, in order to help shield him from investigations being carried out by the EFCC.

But Shina Loremikan wondered why SANI is kept in custody when the person accused him is said to outside the country.

Federal Government Declares Amotekun Illegal

Proceedings at the Lagos Federal High Court was disrupted yesterday when men of the Environmental Monitoring Task Force of the Lagos State Government stormed the court to tow vehicles belonging to lawyers and litigants parked outside the court premises.

Some lawyers were making submissions and arguments before various judges of the court when the news filtered in that their cars were being towed away.

Most judges had to stop proceedings to allow the lawyers and litigants go out to assess the situation.

Not less than 20 cars were towed away in the exercise while many onlookers who tried to film the operation also had their phones seized by the men of the Task Force.

They therefore want the Lagos State Government to look into the matter since the car park of the court is not spacious enough to accommodate all the vehicles.
