Christian Association Of Nigeria Asks President Buhari To Sack All Security Chiefs.

 

The Christian Association of Nigeria has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack all the security chiefs over growing insecurity in the country.

 

This is coming on the heels of the murder of Reverend Lawan Andimi by Boko Haram terrorists.

 

In a communiqué, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Dr. Samson Ayokunle asked why the Service Chiefs have not been replaced if the security agencies are not living up to the expectations.

 

The religious body noted that Muslims are also being killed but Christians seem to be the target.

 

CAN also demand that the federal government label the Miyetti Allah Fulani Association a terrorist organization and also order the arrest of the leadership of the Groups who are behind the heinous crimes.

The National Secretary, Miyetti Allah KautalHore, Saleh Alhassan, says they are afraid that if the Amotekun security outfit is allowed to operate, it could turn out to be a disaster for the country.

 

Alhassan who was a guest on a television programme likened the initiative to the Oodua Peoples Congress which he claimed has the history of heinous crimes and killings.

 

He also described the initiative as a “threat to democracy”.

Outbreak Of Lassa Fever Kills At Least 16 Persons In Ondo State.

At least 16 persons have died in the last two weeks in a fresh Lassa fever outbreak in Ondo State. 

 

Dr. Steven Fagbemi, an epidemiologist in Ondo, who revealed this in Akure, the state capital, stressed that the figure was among 84 cases already recorded. 

 

Fagbemi noted that 47 patients were currently on admission at various government hospitals, adding that 21 persons among that number had been treated and discharged. 

 

Dr Yahaya Disu, a coordinator with the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, said Lassa Fever cases had been recorded in Owo, Akoko South-West, Akure South and Ondo West local government areas of the state.

Economic And Financial Crimes Commission Optimistic Of Extraditing Looters

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is optimistic that the agency will request the extradition of more Nigerians alleged to have looted public funds.

 

Acting Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Ibrahim Magu gave this indication during an interview with journalists after an assessment visit to the Ilorin zonal head of the agency.

 

He stated that the fight against corruption has been renewed this year and anyone found guilty will be prosecuted.

 

Ibrahim Magu debunked the assertion that the establishment of the Agency in Kwara state is to go after select persons.
