Nigerian Army Confirms The Death Of Three Soldiers Attached To Operation Lafiya Dole.

The Nigerian Army has said that it lost three soldiers attached to Operation Lafiya Dole while four others were injured in the Boko Haram attack in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

 

The army noted that the Boko Haram fighters attempted to overrun the Army Super Camp 2, belonging to the troops of 25 Task Force Brigade which is located in Damboa LGA, on Wednesday night.

 

According to the Army, 19 of the insurgents were also killed in the gun battle.

 

The Nigerian Army Operation Media Coordinator, Col Aminu Iliyasu, said in a statement yesterday that the Boko Haram terrorists attacked Damboa in gun trucks, adding that the troops recovered five AK-47 rifles, one General Purpose Machine gun and one rocket-propelled gun tube from the terrorists.

The state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi at a news briefing said the Chinese citizen was quarantined after he arrived in the country via an Ethiopian Airlines plane on Monday.

 

Prof. Akin Abayomi disclosed that the Chinese national was, thereafter, moved to the Lagos State Isolation Centre where he was tested for the virus.

The Peoples Democratic Party Rejects The Verdict of The Supreme Court.

The Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the verdict of the Supreme Court on the review of its judgment on the Imo state governorship election.

 

It faulted the judgment of the apex court in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan.

 

The party described the judgment as “a disconcerting endorsement of electoral fraud,” saying it has placed a huge burden on the court and the justices.

 

Supreme Court Dismisses Emeka Ihedioha’s Application.

The Supreme Court has dismissed an application filed by Emeka Ihedioha, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 Imo State governorship election.

 

In the suit, Ihedioha asked the apex court to review its judgment which sacked him as the governor of the state.

 

A seven-man panel of judges led by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad presided over the majority judgment yesterday in Abuja.

 

Six of the judges on the panel agreed with the apex court’s verdict while Justice Chima Nweze gave a dissenting judgment, stressing that the decision ought to be reviewed.
