Buhari Commends Lagos State Government’s High-level Commitment in Fighting COVID-19 in the State.

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended Lagos state government’s high level commitment in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

 

He also promised the federal government’s support and assistance when Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited him as the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

 

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the state is doing all that is necessary to ensure that the reported case of corona virus is contained, while an outbreak is prevented.

Three Persons Suspected To Be Infected With Coronavirus Disease In Lagos Isolation Centre.

Three persons suspected to be infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been identified and are being tested in the Lagos isolation centre.

 

One of those involved is a Nigerian who returned from France three days ago, a second entered the country from the United Kingdom and a third from China.

 

At a news briefing, the State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, said the patient from France was referred to the Infectious Disease Hospital by a private hospital in Lagos.

 

He said the patient is a Nigerian who went to France, spent seven days in France, returned to Lagos three days ago and presented with headache and some respiratory symptoms.

Adams Oshiomole Seeks Protection Of Federal High Court, Kano Against His Suspension From The Party.

A federal high court in Kano has issued an interim order halting the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

 

Another federal high court had on Monday issued an order suspending him.

 

In law, a court of co-equal jurisdiction cannot review the judgment of another.

 

At its sitting in Kano, the judge, A. Lewis-Allagoa asked parties involved to “maintain the status quo ante bellum pending the court’s final decision.

 

The judge gave the ruling following an application by one Aliyu Rabiu asking the court to stop the APC and INEC from effecting Oshiomhole’s suspension.

Federal Government Threatens To Stop Salaries Of Its Workers Not Captured On IPPIS.

The Federal Government has threatened to stop the salaries of its workers not captured on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System.

 

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, issued this threat at the opening of the 2020 Management Retreat for Treasury Directors of Finance and Directors of Internal Audit in Kano.

 

She said members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities who have not registered in IPPIS should no longer expect their salaries.

 

Zainab Ahmed who said that 55 per cent of the varsity teachers’ has so far been enrolled said the system has helped in identifying over 70, 000 ghost workers in the federal civil service.

 

But the ASUU Chairman Unilag chapter, Dr. Dele Ashiru warned that the lecturers cannot be held responsible for any industrial action in the Universities.
