Presidency Says Federal Government Not Interested in Naming Sponsors of Terrorism, Insists Justice Will Be Served

The Special Adviser to be President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adelina, has said the federal government was not interested in naming and shaming sponsors of terrorism but insisted that justice would be served to such persons

Coming barely a week after the United Arab Emirates placed six Nigerians on its terror list, Adesina, when asked on a monitored programme if President Buhari would comment on the issue of terrorism at the UN Assembly, he said the government’s focus will be on prosecution of suspects.

The Presidential Spokesman said naming and shaming won’t be the motive.

Rather, he said bringing malefactors to justice would be it.

Liverpool visit Norwich City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday before a league trip to Brentford on Saturday.

Thiago was replaced by Naby Keita after 62 minutes in the win over the Eagles at Anfield.

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold also missed the game against Palace through illness and will again be absent at Norwich, while forward Roberto Firmino has resumed training after missing three matches with a hamstring injury.

James Rodriguez in Talks with Qatari Club

Everton’s James Rodriguez is in talks with a club in Qatar about a potential move to the Middle East.

The former Real Madrid midfielder is yet to play a game since the arrival of Rafa Benitez as manager.

The 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner had an option to move to Portugal during the transfer window but a deal could not be agreed with Porto.

The official line from the club was that Rodriguez was in Benitez’s plans ‘until August 31’, but Qatar could prove to be an escape route with the transfer window open until September 30.

James has used streaming service Twitch to provide his followers with updates on his future, which has angered many supporters.

The 30-year-old arrived at Goodison Park on a free transfer in September 2020, reuniting for a third time with then-manager Carlo Ancelotti.

He signed a two-year deal, with an option of a third, and became the highest-paid player in Everton’s history.

Victor Osimhen on Target As Napoli Thrash Udinese

Victor Osimhen started the ball rolling as Napoli climbed to the top of Serie A with a resounding 4-0 victory over Udinese at the Dacia Arena.

The visitors took the lead with 24 minutes gone when Osimhen, who had scored both goals as his side fought back to secure a 2-2 Europa League draw at Leicester on Thursday evening, struck from close range after running on to Lorenzo Insigne’s lob.

It might have been 2-0 within seven minutes when Fabian Ruiz’s long-range strike came back off the woodwork, but the reprieve proved temporary when defender Amir Rrahmani headed home Kalidou Koulibaly’s 35th-minute cross.

Gerard Deulofeu passed up an opportunity to reduce the deficit eight minutes before the break and Koulibaly effectively wrapped up the points within seven minutes of the restart with Napoli’s third, substitute Hirving Lozano’s late strike simply cementing a comfortable win which eased them from third place to first.
