Police Confirm Release of Professors, Other Abducted Staff of University of Abuja

Two Professors and other members of staff of the University of Abuja who were kidnapped recently have regained their freedom.

You will recall that some criminal elements suspected to be kidnappers had invaded the staff quarters of the university on Monday and whisked some residents to unknown destination.

A day after their abduction, the kidnappers contacted families of the victims and demanded N300 million as condition for their release.

But spokesman of the Federal Capital Territory Command, DSP Josephine Adeh confirmed their release to today.

According to her, the development followed the efforts of the command in a joint operation with other security agencies.

She stated that some suspects linked to the crime have been nabbed by security operatives.

ASUU Gives FG 48-Hour Ultimatum to Rescue Victims of Uniabuja Kidnap

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Abuja branch, has given the Federal Government a 48-hour ultimatum to rescue the victims who were kidnapped from the University of Abuja in the Federal Capital.

You will recall that armed men who are yet to be identified, invaded the staff quarters of the institution on Tuesday morning and whisked away the victims.

The Chairperson of the branch, Dr. Kasim Umar, made the call for the immediate rescue of the victims at a news conference in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Umar, who expressed concern over the insecurity situation, said unless stringent and urgent measures are put in place to rescue its members, things may become worse.

NBA Condemns Invasion of Justice Mary Odili’s Residence by Security Operatives

The Nigerian Bar Association has condemned the invasion by security operatives on the residence of a Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Mary Odili, insisting that as ministers in the temple of justice, lawyers must speak in one voice against any evil against the Bench.

The President of NBA, Olumide Akpata, said this at the Court Room of the Supreme Court of Nigeria during a valedictory special court session in honor of late Justice of the Apex Court, Justice Samuel Oseji.

Akpata said the NBA was dissatisfied with the denials emanating from the relevant agencies and departments of government and vowed that the organization would leave no stone unturned in its bid to unmask those behind this attack and to bring to justice anyone found culpable, no matter how highly placed.

EFCC Finally Releases Billionaire Club Owner Obi Cubana After 3 Days in Detention

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finally released billionaire businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana.

Inspiration FM recalls that the Anambra-born club owner was arrested and taken to the headquarters of the anti-graft agency, Jabi, Abuja, on Monday, following allegations of money laundering and tax fraud.

The popular Instagram socialite was, however, released last night after he had spent three days in detention undergoing interrogations.

Spokesman of EFCC Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed the release, said Cubana was allowed to go after the completion of interrogations by detectives.
