Manchester United Goal Keeper Dean Henderson Speaks Up Over Unsettling Rumours

Manchester United goalkeeper, Dean Henderson claims that “inappropriate” and “hurtful” accusations about him which have spread on social media, have negatively affected his family.

Social media speculation has linked Henderson’s name to a report in the Sun on Sunday concerning a Premier League player’s arrest in 2019.

The 24-year-old England international said via a post on social media platform, Instagram, “I have a family who have been affected by this so wanted to put the rumours to bed and move on,”.

“Can’t believe I’m having to do this but I’d just like to address the rumours that have come to light in the last couple of days.

“There are some sad people in the world that have attached my name to such inappropriate, hurtful and totally false news stories.”

Henderson, who has one England cap, has appeared in five United games this season having found less playing time due to increasingly impressive performances from colleague, David De Gea. He was linked to a move outside Old Trafford in the January transfer window, but that was to be unlikely in the end.

5 Star Manchester City Thrash Sporting Lisbon 5-0 In UCL Last-16 First Leg

Manchester City practically secured qualification for the Champions League quarter-finals in spectacular fashion after a last-16, first-leg thrashing of Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.

City put on quite a show, like they have for much of this season, to give themselves an unassailable lead in a fixture against a resurgent and regenerated Sporting who are currently Portuguese champions.

After a lengthy delay to determine if Kevin de Bruyne had strayed offside in the build-up, the in-form Riyad Mahrez scored the opener with a close-range finish given via VAR.

In a furious first half that devastated Sporting, Phil Foden added to his increasing goal tally for the season with a cool, calm finish.

With his side’s second and fourth goals, Bernardo Silva silenced the booing that accompanied every touch from him and City’s three other former Benfica players, the first a stunning half-volley following a corner.

After the break, there was no let-up, with Silva having a hat-trick headed goal ruled out for offside before setting up Raheem Sterling for a magnificent fifth goal.

The win equals the largest winning margin in an away match in the Champions League knockout phase and provides City their joint biggest European away victory, level with the 5-0 win at Steaua Bucharest in the play-off round of this competition in 2016-17.

Sporting will travel to The Etihad Stadium for the second leg on Wednesday, 16 March, a game billed to largely be a mere formality.

February 16, 2022 Tennis World Number 1 Novak Djokovic Willing to Ignore Tournaments Over Vaccination

Tennis World Number 1 Novak Djokovic Willing to Ignore Tournaments Over Vaccination

Novak Djokovic has stated that he would rather forfeit future tennis titles than be forced to take the Covid jab.

The 36-year-old Serbian claimed forsaking championships like the French Open was “the price I’m prepared to pay” because of his jab status.

Last month, the 20-time Grand Slam winner was deported from Australia after his visa was revoked due to a dispute regarding his vaccination status.

“Very difficult” conditions were described by Djokovic while he was detained.

He claimed that, despite his desire to do so, he did not speak out in the media at the time because he wanted to respect the legal process and the Australian Open.

The Serbian tennis player also stated that he should not be affiliated with the anti-vax campaign, but that he supports the right of individuals to make their own decisions.

He said he had recently recovered from Covid-19 and had got a medical exemption to enter the nation to compete in the Australian Open.

However, the 34-year-visa old’s was directly revoked by the country’s immigration minister, Alex Hawke, on the grounds that his presence could provoke “public disorder” and foment anti-vaccine sentiment.

Djokovic expressed his hope that vaccine requirements in some tournaments would be relaxed, and that he would be able to “compete for many more years.”

He did, however, clarify that he was willing to forfeit the potential to become the greatest male tennis player of all time due to his intense feelings. Rafael Nadal, Djokovic’s opponent, has won 21 Grand Slam singles titles, the most of any male competitor.

Kylian Mbappe Scores Late Winner as PSG Narrowly Edge Madrid in UCL Last-16 First Leg

Paris St-Germain overcame 13-time Champions League winners Real Madrid in the first leg of their last-16 encounter thanks to a spectacular strike by Kylian Mbappe in stoppage time.

The France forward international, who has been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, gathered the ball on the left flank following a superb backheel by Neymar and sprinted between two defenders inside the box before slotting past Thibaut Courtois to send the Parc des Princes into delirium.

It was a thrilling climax to a game that appeared to be heading for a draw for PSG, especially after Lionel Messi’s penalty was saved just after the hour mark.

The hosts had dominated possession but were unable to break down a well-organised Real defence, who had only allowed PSG one chance on target in the first half, when Mbappe’s attempt was saved by Courtois’ legs.

However, the introduction of Neymar, who was making his first appearance since November following an injury, proved to be the “game changer”. With seconds remaining, he provided the critical pass – a cheeky backheel for Mbappe to work his magic, causing Real a number of difficulties with his dangerous crosses and brilliant runs.

The victory offers PSG hope that they can go to Madrid on Wednesday, March 9 and obtain the result they need to keep their Champions League title ambitions alive.
