Roma Head Coach Jose Mourinho Given Touchline Ban

Roma head coach Jose Mourinho has been handed a two-match touchline ban after he was sent off during his side’s 2-all (2-2) draw with Verona on Saturday.

Mourinho went onto the pitch to argue with referee Luca Pairetto before kicking the ball into the crowd.

According to the Italian Football Federation, the Portuguese coach made “made serious allegations” against Pairetto and stormed the field “with a threatening attitude.”

Mourinho made a phone gesture towards Pairetto, which Italian media speculated was a reference to his father Pierluigi, who was allegedly engaged in the 2006 Italian match-fixing affair.

The former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham manager then exited the Stadio Olimpico without pausing for his post-match press conference.

He will miss the trip to Spezia on Sunday and the home fixture against Atalanta on March 5 due to his suspension.

In addition to the suspension, the Portuguese manager was also fined 20,000 Euros (£16,670).

A federal high court in Abuja has refused to hear an application by the suspended deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Abba Kyari seeking bail from custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on the grounds of ill health.

In an ex parte application brought before the court on Monday, Kyari through his counsel, Cynthia Ikenna, told the court that his health has deteriorated.

Ikenna prayed the court to release her client who is diabetic and hypertensive on bail pending the determination of the substantive suit.

She said the substantive matter is a fundamental human right suit in which Kyari is challenging the false allegations against him.
