Dillian Whyte Signs Contract to Fight WBC Champion Tyson Fury in April

Tyson Fury has confirmed the bout is set to take place on April 23 at Wembley Stadium.

33-year-old Whyte, had until 06:00 GMT on Tuesday to sign the contract, but he had spent the weekend and Monday ironing out the terms and final details of the deal.

Fury went on social media to taunt his opponent. He said “Dillian Whyte signed his contract for $8m, what a surprise,”

Fury added: “The man’s signed for the biggest payday he’s going to get in his life.”

In a later video on Tuesday, he informed his followers that he would now be taking a break from social media as he trains for the match.

“I’m about to go off social media completely for the next eight and a half weeks,” he said.

“I’m going into training camp to give Dillian Whyte all the respect in the world he needs. I’ll never underestimate anyone in my life.

“Don’t phone me, call me, email me, text me or try to contact me in any way as I am out of bounds until May. I’ll be training away. Please respect my privacy and space. See you all at the press conference.”

33-year-old Fury, is now poised to get 80% of the prize, or roughly £20 million, with Whyte receiving the other 20%.

Spanish Figure Skater Laura Barquero Fails Doping Test at Winter Olympics

Spanish figure skater Laura Barquero tested positive for a banned drug at the Winter Olympics according to the International Testing Agency (ITA).

According to the ITA, a sample collected on February 18 contained a clostebol metabolite that is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s forbidden list.

In Beijing, Barquero was tested during the couples skating short program.

“The athlete has been informed. She has the right to request the analysis of the B-sample,” said the ITA.

“The matter will thereafter be referred to the anti-doping division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport [Cas] for adjudication under the IOC [International Olympic Committee] anti-doping rules applicable to the Olympic Games Beijing 2022.

“Given that the case is under way, there will be no further comments during the ongoing proceeding.”

The 20-year-old finished 11th in the pairs skating event at the Beijing Olympics with partner Maurizio Zandron.

It’s the fourth positive test from the Olympics, which was also headlined by the case of Kamila Valieva, a 15-year-old figure skater.

Despite testing positive for the prohibited angina medicine trimetazidine before the Winter Olympics, Russian Valieva was allowed to compete in Beijing.

Vlahovic Scores Early On In UCL Debut As Juve Are Held At Villareal

Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw against Villarreal in the last 16 first leg, despite Dusan Vlahovic scoring the fastest ever Champions League debut goal.

The 22-year-old Serb, who joined from Fiorentina for £58 million last month, sprinted onto Danilo’s long pass before a twist and smart finish after 32 seconds into the game.

“It was huge to score on my debut,” said Vlahovic, whose only other European experience was as a 16-year-old for Partizan Belgrade in Europa League qualifying. “It was very emotional.

“However, I cannot be 100% satisfied because we have not won the game. Personally, I have already forgotten this game and I’m focused on the next.”

Villarreal’s Giovani lo Celso hit the outside of the post with a shot.

Dani Parejo scored the equalizer after Etienne Capoue’s aerial ball into the box was intercepted by Dani Parejo.

Adrien Rabiot was only booked for a reckless foul on Samuel Chukwueze, thus Juve were fortunate to finish with 11 men.

Juventus haven’t lost in 90 minutes since November, but they were punished for their profligacy at the Estadio de la Ceramica, to further compound their woes, they lost midfielder Weston McKennie to an ankle injury in the second half.

The tie is evenly poised heading into the second leg in Turin in three weeks, thanks to the elimination of the away goal rule this year.

Chelsea Secure UCL Last-16 First Leg Win Lille

Chelsea claimed a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge to take control of their Champions League last-16 contest against Lille ahead of clinching a quarter-final place in the tournament.

Kai Havertz headed in Hakim Ziyech’s corner after eight minutes and Christian Pulisic was the recipient of N’Golo Kante’s excellent run and pass in the 63rd minute, as the Blues gained a critical first-leg advantage.

Romelu Lukaku, who has been out of sorts, was only used as a substitute, with Havertz providing the major offensive danger – and the German almost scored twice before his early strike.

Injury to Ziyech and midfielder Mateo Kovacic ahead of Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley were the only setbacks on an otherwise positive night for Chelsea and manager Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea’s cool and professional performance against an enthusiastic Lille team was summed up by the brilliance demonstrated by senior defender Thiago Silva and exceptional midfielder Kante.

Silva impressed with an energetic display, spending the majority of the night in cruise control, exhibiting expertise and great positioning and awareness to suffocate any threat.

It was a fantastic night for Chelsea and their manager, but the concerns surrounding Lukaku will persist until the striker, who has had an unsettling season thus far, begins producing.

Many hoped he would give their frontline a cutting edge and put the finishing touches on their Champions League-winning team from the previous season.

Lukaku’s moment may come against Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday, but Tuchel went into this game with Havertz’s more complete game and goal threat – and it paid off, as Chelsea are now in a strong position to reach the quarter-finals.
