Manchester City Hold Off Atletico To Reach UCL Semi

Manchester City produced a mature and disciplined performance to hold off the challenge of Atletico Madrid - and set up a Champions League semi-final showdown with the Spanish side's city rivals Real.

Knowing a clean sheet would be enough to seal the tie, City kept their cool in the face of a hostile home crowd and intimidation from a physical Atleti side showing far more ambition than in the first leg.

Ilkay Gundogan could have made life much easier for Pep Guardiola's men by slotting in from close range, instead of against the post in the first half.

But in the face of much-increased pressure and a home side pushing desperately for parity, City put up a resolute rearguard action to confirm their progression to the last four.

Atletico ended the fiery contest with 10 men when defender Felipe was shown a second yellow card for a dangerous follow-through on Phil Foden, having also caught the same player with an arm that drew blood from the England international's head earlier in the game.

Real Madrid, who edged past Chelsea in a thrilling quarter-final tie on Tuesday, now stand between City and a second successive appearance in the final of Europe's premier club competition.

Having lost to Thomas Tuchel's Blues in last season's final, Guardiola's side are seeking a maiden Champions League title in a campaign where they are still challenging on three fronts.

They lead the Premier League by one point from second-placed Liverpool - and face Jurgen Klopp's Reds in an FA Cup semi-final this Saturday.

Tiktok Star Jennifrank Debuts Short Film ‘The Internet Never Forgets’

The short film is a timely warning to young Nigerians on the dangers of indiscriminate social media posting.

Popular TikToker Jennifer Ebele Onyekwelu-Udoka popularly known as JenniFrank has debuted a short film titled 'The Internet Never Forgets', a thrilling piece that addresses the use of social media.

The three-minute film features the celebrity influencer in a full display of emotions―fear, anger, regret, sadness, resignation as she narrates the side effects of blackmail and the stress of dealing with it outside the law in a way that underscores the message that anything put online leaves a digital footprint that can be found decades after it was posted.

The message of the 'The Internet Never Forgets' is timely with the latest trend of celebrity scandals.

The film is scripted and directed by JenniFrank and filmed by David Cliq for the ongoing TikTok.

"When people are going through stuff in their personal lives, they put it out on social media; some people even blackmail others and put it out on social media. My video is a reminder that this can have long term consequences that may not be so pleasant, so we should be careful of what we share,” JenniFranks says on the short film.

The warning was coming at an opportune moment in the light of the ongoing Tiktok #ShortFilm competition.

UNICEF Withdraws Fraud Alert Against Falegan, Nkechi Blessing’s Ex-Husband

Falegan has threatened a lawsuit against the UNICEF as response over the allegation.

As againt allegation earlier stated, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has withdrawn its scam alert issued against Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing’s ex-lover, and politician, Opeyemi David Falegan.

Falegan had claimed to be on a fundraising drive for the people of Ukraine with his charity organization, ODF Foundation, in collaboration with UNICEF on his Instagram page, @hon_falegan_official_.

The Nigerian arm of the organisation thereafter debunked the claim via its Instagram page @unicef_nigeria, on Friday, April 08, 2022, tagging it a “scam”.

Despite the alert, Falegan posted a video on his Instagram page to support his claim that he had indeed raised £61 to be donated to UNICEF’s relief efforts in Ukraine.

The video demonstrated how a link was generated from UNICEF’s Instagram page to create a fundraiser on his personal page.

The Instagram donation feature ensures that donations made with the link will be directly remitted to the organisation’s account.

However, Falegan also solicited funds and added bank account details for his foundation in the fundraising post.

On Monday, April 11, 2022, the Nigerian branch of UNICEF made a U-turn, by deleting the scam alert post.

The organisation via its Instagram page, @unicef_nigeria, also clarified that the alert was issued because Falegan tried to promote his charity organisation while raising funds in the name of UNICEF.

We are aware that funds can be raised for UNICEF with the Instagram feature that allows users to raise funds for an organization of their choice,” the caption read. “However, no aspect of the fundraiser should include an unauthorized promotion, support, or fundraising for another organisation.

We discourage intended or unintended affiliations with organizations we do not have a partnership with. In instances where this occurs, UNICEF can issue an alert through our office in the country where the unauthorized activity took place or where the organization operates.

We have taken down the post with the scam alert as the fundraising activity in question has been discontinued.”

In response, Falegan has threatened a lawsuit against the UNICEF over the allegation.

The politician also described UNICEF’s scam alert as “gross irresponsibility” which he said would “be lawfully handled”.

You cannot take down the scam alert post made about me without proper procedure or due process, you knew you made a blunder because I never made a fundraising with you,” he wrote on Instagram.

I did with @unicef which was the main organ of @unicef for Ukraine’s war victims which was allowed and acknowledged.

The hatchet write up by the UNICEF_Nigeria and its sponsors has not only portrayed I, Hon. Opeyemi David Falegan as a scammer in the public alone but it has depreciated my untainted image in Ekiti state, Nigeria and the world. This is pure gross of irresponsibility on your part and it shall be lawfully handled.”
