DSS Arrests Terror Suspects As Federal Government Says Nigeria Will Not Be Stampeded By Us Terror Alert

Operatives of the Department of State Services have arrested two terror suspects at the Trademore Estate in the Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday.

The security operatives were said to have shut the entrance and exit gates of the estate while the operation lasted.

Reports say the suspects, said to be siblings, were taken into custody on an allegation of terrorism.

This is coming as  the federal government again, reacted to the updated travel advisory by the United States Department of State and the United Kingdom for their citizens to reconsider travelling to Nigeria due to terrorism and general crime.

Minister of Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed said it would not be stampeded by whatever any foreign government tells its citizens.

The Minister said as a government, the administration has done better on security in recent past, and therefore assures everybody of security of their lives and property.

Reacting to this, a Global Security Researcher, Professor Usman Yusuff, said the Nigerian Government should not disregard the advisory or treat it with levity, but rather synergise with the issuing countries to forestall its occurrence.

In the interim, the United States has authorised the evacuation of “non-emergency” employees and their family members in Nigeria.
