Banky W Publicly Appreciates Adesua For Staying With Him On Political Journey

Bankole Wellington, commonly known as Banky W, is a musician and politician. In a touching letter, he thanks his wife Adesua Etomi-Wellington for supporting him during his political career.

Banky recalled how his wife used to despise politics but decided to support him nevertheless after the singer uploaded a video of him and his wife during their campaign with some ladies in Etiosa, Lagos.

Read the touching post: "Susu always hated politics... So when I began talking about the burden I had to run for office, I'm sure you can imagine how she felt. She said "Banky I know you, and I know your heart... and if you're given an opportunity, I'm sure you would do a great job and make a difference... BUT politics in Nigeria is dirty and dangerous. And I don't want anything to soil you or harm you."

My response was that our politics will always remain dirty and dangerous if the good people always avoid it. If the people who truly care about the state of our country don't begin to participate in politics then we will never turn things around. We have to move past pointing fingers and complaining...to doing something about it.

So Susu and I did a lot of talking and praying together, and thank God she finally agreed. So I began this journey...one that I would never have been able to withstand, if she didn't stand with me.

The life of a genuine public servant is tough. And it's tough on your spouse too. There's so much required of you... your time, talent and treasure... your sacrifice, tough skin and strength... your faith and finances. This much is certainly true - truly running for office, with the right intentions, is physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually the most draining thing you could ever do.

There's no way I'd have been able to do this without Susu. So today please take a moment to help me say thank you to Mrs W. My friend and lover. My personal person and purpose partner.

Thank you Shuga. Thank you for everything. I love you, and I'm grateful to God for you."

He is the PDP's nominee for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. According to     Banky W, he got into politics to change a failing system.

Don’t Let Bullion Vans Determine Election Result – Atiku Urges Voters

The former vice president urged Nigerians to channel their anger over the new notes and the lack of petrol to vote out the current government.

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) presidential nominee, has pleaded with Nigerian voters not to let wealthy individuals decide who would win the next presidential election.

In a statement on Sunday, February 5, 2023, Atiku reiterated his support for the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) new currency policy.

The PDP presidential flag bearer also applauded the central bank and anti-corruption organizations for their efforts to make the new notes accessible to the general population.

However, he urged Nigerians to leverage their resentment over the price of petrol and the devaluation of their currency to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

The statement read: “A few days ago, I had cause to make a statement on the currency conversion policy of the federal government. In the said statement, I aligned my position with an upsurge of demands for a slight extension of the January 31 deadline.

While commending the magnanimity of the CBN for such an extension, it would be pertinent for the agency to take urgent measures and make the new currency available and accessible to the public. This is necessary to ease the ongoing hardships and frustration that have become manifest in our people across the country.

“It is also noteworthy to appreciate the good work being done by the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission for busting unscrupulous elements who hoard money in secret warehouses.

“Under no circumstance must we allow the outcome of this election to be determined by the bullion van tendencies. The frustration that we all go through at the moment can be corrected if the CBN continues to do its part and operatives of the EFCC and ICPC, too, ensure that people do not keep stacks of money out of reach of the public. The other side of the bargain is for us as Nigerians to use the power of our PVC to channel our frustration to vote out the APC in the forthcoming general election.”
